Unless you're replacing the razor wire continuously (fat chance), you're going to get gaps opening up--people have been known to steal razor wire for the salvage value. Mix in teenagers stealing the signs, signs getting blown away in thunderstorms, and the local criminal element "borrowing" mines for their own use, and you're going to have "accidental" (or not-so-accidental) detonations all the time.

Do you really think that the press is going to voluntarily not cover the story of Joe American, who got his legs blown off by a mine from the border strip? Do you really think that Americans are going to accept that sort of thing happening?

The only way is to include constant patrols (and I mean military) with the razor wire. Unless the banditos (my new term for the illegals since they steal our tax dollars) think that there is a risk to their life, they will continue to cross by the millions. And since W and the US government is too PC to do anything, I say again, nothing, nothing will happen even if 100,000 Americans die in terrorist attacks.
