Here is a simple solution that may just bring the sniper attacks around Washington to a quick end: Offer a $10 million reward for the capture of the person(s) responsible.
I saw this evening that a reward of about $300,000 is being offered for the sniper(s) operating around Washington.
Yet it is probably costing taxpayers tens of millions just in law enforcement resources. Add to that figure the hundreds of millions in lost business and taxes affecting the Washington area at this moment.
Ten million dollars would be a small price to pay. And for that amount, the killer's best friend or brother might just turn him in.
The beauty of this plan is that if it doesnt work, it doesnt cost anything.
In fact, I am surprised, with war so close and the threat of mass destruction attacks and other malicious terrorist acts so likely here in the U.S., that the government has not offered large rewards such as $10 million for anyone who assists in the "capture of terrorists who may be plotting attacks against Americans."
The reward needs to be big. This will not only get national news play it will also motivate one of more of the terrorists or their friends to break ranks.
Remember that the U.S. cannot rely on its own intelligence networks. We discovered that on 9/11. It takes years to place spies and informants into terror cells.
My reward proposal would short-circuit the terrorists and leapfrog our ability to infiltrate and prevent terrorist acts.
As I said, it costs nothing if it doesn't work.
If it does, it could save billions or even trillions. Consider what would happen if anthrax was dispersed in Manhattan this week. The stock market would crash and trillions would be lost, not to mention the loss of life and property.
My reward proposal is nothing new.
I have been proposing for some time, even before 9/11, a massive reward for Osama bin Laden "Dead or Alive."
A $1 billion bounty on his head might have turned him up something a $25 billion war in Afghanistan has not done.
I propose a bounty of $1 billion for bin Laden, $100 million for his top lieutenants and $10 million for anyone involved in attacks like the recent sniper murders in Maryland (which may or may not be terrorist-related).
True, many terrorists won't turn in their leaders for any amount of money. But others will, and so will their friends.
Any large terrorist operation requires dozens, if not hundreds, of helpers who assist with logistics. Thousands probably know of bin Laden's whereabouts. I bet if you offer a $1 billion reward, a Russian or Pakistani intelligence official will be dialing in with his whereabouts within 24 hours.
Right now, the State Department has a $25 million reward for bin Laden. Like the $300,000 reward for the sniper, it's too small. So far it hasn't worked. The U.S. needs to make an irresistible offer.
Large reward bounties for the heads of bin Laden and other terrorists are the quickest way to get these murderous thugs once and for all, and far cheaper than bombing cities or declaring war on more countries.
If the reward is high enough, the terrorists' days are numbered. One billion for bin Laden? It's a bargain.
Cops are dumber than dirt.
How much $ for some spots in a cave?
Everyone with a scoped hunting rifle will be heading to DC shortly.
