Tribute To HEROES

.

While the dogtag is used to provide information on an individual serviceman,
I also believe that the chain which holds them represents a connection to all
servicemen, no matter where you served, how you served or when you served.

.

The Minuteman in 1776 has a connection to the soldier fighting in Afghanistan today.
That connection is every individual who has ever served in the United States Military.

Each of us represents a link in the chain that connects that Minuteman of
over 200 years ago to the soldier in Afghanistan today.

The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics,
beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals,
is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women -
and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Happy TGIF!!!! Everyone getting geared up to party tonight?

Howdy troops, veterans and allies!! Thank You! so much for living up to the words "Duty, Honor, Country." God bless y'all!

sniff! I'm so disappointed with this little unit today. I was all set to read the thread....and it wasn't there. Just a little white square, which I see all too often. I know I'm missing a goodie.

I just got done reading about your father - thank you. I love WWII stories, and your father's is an amazing one. God bless you and your family, Sam.

Soldiers Prayer

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing I asked for --
but everything I had hoped for.
Almost, inspite myself, my
unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men,
most richly blessed.

Day in the Life of President Bush thread.

A Day in the Life of President Bush

Joined by First Lady Laura, President Bush highlighted the on-going efforts in Afghanistan today in an event at the David Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Bush spoke about the humanitarian relief, which is continuing in Afghanistan. This evening, the First Couple is attending the second annual National Book Festival Gala performance at the Library of Congress.

Quote of the Day:

"We've seen in Afghanistan that the road to freedom can be hard, it's a hard struggle. We've also seen in Afghanistan that the road to freedom is the only one worth traveling. Any nation that sacrifices to build a future of liberty will have the respect, the support, and the friendship of the United States of America."

(Thank you rintense for this daily thread.)
