It was appear that the earliest in the morning was the third shooting, 7:41 AM, in Montgomery County, MD (Oct 3, lawnmower). The latest in the morning was the sixth, 9:58 AM, also Montgomery County (Oct 3, gas station).
The earliest in the afternoon was the eighth, 2:30 PM, in Fredericksburg, VA (Oct 4, parking lot), next earliest was the first shooting, 5:20 PM, in Montgomery County (Oct 2, windows of art supply store, nobody hurt), and the latest in the evening was the seventh, 9:15 PM, in DC (Oct 3, sidewalk).
Apparently the sniper keeps regular hours and might work part-time (or full-time but in a job that allows him to travel) but is occupied in the middle of the day (is the 2:20 shooting a fluke, a day he called in sick, etc.?).
A local radio station started calling him the One Shot Sniper, so now he may have a nickname.
Oddly enough, two of his shootings were in shopping centers with Michael's Crafts (an art supply chain) and the one in Manassas was a gas station adjacent to a shopping center with a Michael's. There aren't but ten or so Michael's stores in the area (it's not nearly as ubiquitous as, say, CVS pharmacies). It appears that the sniper knows the immediate neighborhoods of his shootings - at least he knows how to zip onto a major highway in short order. Could it be that he is or was a deliveryman for Michael's or for a supplier for Michael's, and thereby got to know the streets around each Michael's store??
Manassas, by the way, is a fairly long drive - almost an hour - from Montgomery County, MD, and most residents of Montgomery have never been there, so this guy is no simple commuter ... he's familiar with fairly long routes.
