Freepers seem to be good for obscure political stuff,

I need the complete text of the 1996 Nigeria Democracy Act (H. R. 1786), it was a law written proposing sanctions to be levied against Nigeria after the execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa in 1995,

The law had some very serious implications for oil companies opperating in some of the worlds finer shitholes; I need this information for work unfortunetly every channel has turned up nothing,

Virtually none of the bills supporters are still in Congress and a search for the title of the bill just brings up some useless abstracts and a search for H. R. 1786 brings up a current bill related to milk pasturization.

If anyone has any ideas or knows where the complete text of the bill can be found, please let me know.

That is interesting because the office of a congressman who is close friends with our vice president faxed the bill to us earlier this evening and HR1786 was the bill we were looking for,

The incident caused an international firestorm for Nigeria, the military government murdered 4 opposition leaders, then charged another opposition leader with their murders and hanged him

It isn't unexpected to see more than one bill from the house and senate, it was the outrage of the moment and everyone was jumping up to scream about it

It is of interest to us, because our friends in Washington have told us some house republicans want to use that bill as a template against a country we opperate in.
