hmmmm? Quite a quandry as to why all of the women-are-subservient countries have such a vast supply of angry men.

Isn't there a chinese proverb that says "never shake a one-armed arabs hand"?

47.1% feel that there is no need for intervention of social or law enforcement agencies in instances of husbands attacking wives, because that is a family problem..." 68.5% of Palestinians feel that the [Palestinian] Authority should legislate firm punitive legislation for violence against women...."
-----------------------------
73.9% feel that a woman must think of how to become a mother and wife rather than engage in her economic and social freedom..."
"86% of Palestinians feel that the [Islamic] traditions and customs retard advancement of women..."
275.5% of Palestinians can't do simple arithmetic. </sarcasm>

Here's the plan: we round up all our loudest, furriest feminazis and marry them off to the AlQaeda dudes. That will keep both sexes so busy and confused that neither will have time to trouble the world any further.[wiping my eyes of tears from hysterical laughter] Priceless!!

a husband is entitled to beat his wife if he thinks that she "hurt his manhood". ...it's better, of course, to wait until she releases it from the laundry wringer...

Given that one can ask most any Imam and be told that it is acceptable for a husband to use corporal punishment on his wife, this seems like a stupid thing for a Palestinian poll. In fact, at
Ask the Imam not only do they condone the use of corporal punishment, they compare one's spouse to a slave girl. They actually explained that the reason a man can have sex with both a slave girl and a wife is because the ownership of the slave girl is an acceptable substitute for a marriage. Heck, they even refer to female circumcision as "commendable".

Quite a quandry as to why all of the women-are-subservient countries have such a vast supply of angry men.Because people are always lying about us, calling us bad-tempered persons! Stop asking such impertinent questions! They offend my sense of honor! You will be beaten!

yuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
I can understand if you were trapped somewhere remote and didnt have access to toilet paper you would do what you had to do, but as a "cultural" thing to use your bare hand is beyond the pale.

I think these are the two most telling results of this poll.
About half (and we can assume that's mostly the women half) of those polled want help from law enforcement in domestic beatings.
More than half (which must include some men) think the law should support and punish those who are guilty of domestic violence.
This is actually a fairly large percentage of their society which means the societal norms are really at risk on this issue. The women of this society and some right-thinking men could be the key to real revolution not only among the Palistinians, but in other Arab cultures. I hope it can be exploited for their sake as well as ours.

I get the impression that Palestinian women probably get beaten on quite a bit. Because I don't think it would take much to insult the manhood of a Palestinian man. A while back someone who had a Palestinians pen pal posted a letter they got from the Pal on some message board. In the letter, the Pal was complaining about how the Israelis were oppressing them, how Children couldn't play in the streets, and how frustrated Palestinian women were beating on their wives. (That sort of pathetic drivel just makes me roll my eyes.) Anyone want to bet that both Palestinian women and men blame their marital abuse on the Jews? "Honey, the Jews are making me so mad and threatening my sense of masculinity, and they leave me no other choice but to beat you up!"

a husband is entitled to beat his wife if he thinks that she "hurt his manhood". Does that mean if she doesn't get pregnant every nine months to produce warriors for Jihad? Or if she has a lowly female who won't be any good to them until they become breeding age? Premature ejac? Not as good as his boyfriend? What?
