While certain issues espoused by the Libertarians may be admirable (and others inexplicable) this is a party which has absolutely no strategy of any kind.

Why would you put up a paranoiac who turned himself into a blue-skinned freak as a candidate?

No wonder that the LP, whose platform is infinitely superior to that of the Greens by comparison, couldn't outperform Nader in the last election.

Because the Libertarians are stupid.

More to the point: The Libertarian party is a walking advertisement for the political Darwin Awards.

Darwin Awards are given out to those who are sooooooooo blatantly stupid that they kill themselves, thus saving the society by not reproducing and participating in the gene pool.

Metaphorically, the Libertarians are here committing the same thing. They want their ideas and their party to be taken seriously. One of their ideas is to legalize all drugs.

What we have here is a candidate for the Libertarians turning himself blue by practicing what the Libertarians preach: The uninhibited use of anything by anybody. By any measure this "Blueness" would not lend itself to the voting-public's faith in the appearence (pun intended) and sanity of the Libertarian Party.

The Libertarian's produce unelectable, wacky candidates therefore not having much of a say in anything and not 'reproducing' politically; the political equivalent of the Darwin Awards.
