Perhaps the responsibility should be on the country whose people are illegally crossing! Why should the US be concerned about people putting themselves at risk, while engaged in criminal activity? Answer is pretty simple: Take responsibility for your actions and OBEY IMMIGRATION LAW.

The Mexican political elite is truly pathetic only the American elite is more pathetic. If I read this right they want money for Mexico to be sent (yeah right) to the towns from whence people fled. Typical Latin hubris and will meet the typical end. Americans outside of the beltway are waking up and are getting ready for the next San Jacinto.

A delegation of Mexican senators wants the U.S. government to help reduce the record death toll at the Arizona border by creating legal routes for Mexicans to find work here.
Don't they know that we already have them. We call them PORTS OF ENTRY and they are situated all along the border with Mexico.
Oh, I forgot...you can't cross the legal entry points if you are a criminal or carrying drugs.

Good Morning,
Duh award! Someone's thinking. Perhaps these officials need you to translate your post! Might they have forgotten since they all just entered our country "legally" for this mission?

"So that ... once and for all we bury the idea that security is directly associated with immigration," he said.Sorry, Senor Sanchez Carreno, some of us object to burying THE TRUTH.(You can keep piling it on, but we'll keep digging.)

Building walls and putting the military on those walls would enhance our security and be more humane.
Let Mexico use it's own oil wealth to stimulate it's own economic development.
This is like Bill Gates asking for foodstamps.
Yo, Mexico, you have plenty of your own money.

"Visiting Mexican lawmakers say U.S. action needed to help reduce crossers' deaths."
You keep them on your side of the border and we promise to shoot 'em if they come to our side! Deal?

Well said, SLAM DUNK THE ILLEGALS.
There is potable water at every LEGAL border crossing. There is medical help situated nearby, there are food vendors available also transportation means. . . and they want what? Oh, a oneway no work visa situation. Shoot, throw in double voting rights also while we're at it. Seems to me to be a brain dead country when it comes to jurisprudence.
I hope I spelled all this correctly.

creating legal routes for Mexicans to find work here Legal routes = open borders. They also want amnesty for all who have already snuck over the border. How about the millions who will follow them? Then they will demand another amnesty too? If this continues, Fox won't have to put up with many of his impoverished countrymen who represent a burden on his back, they'll all be here and they'll be sending money home. Good deal for Fox, death to American taxpayers and homeowners.
How many welfare recipients and social services users can America absorb? Bush turns his back on us when Mexico is mentioned.

Something like 5 million Mexicans have laser visas, isn't that enough? Now they want legal channels for people who don't qualify for laser visas?!
To: madfly
Imagine the outrage if we actually treated our illegals the way mexico treats it's illegals (from central america).

this is excellent!
