If "the fix" had been thought of months ago, why didn't Torricelli withdraw before the 51-day limit?

"There are no even decimals in American FM radio, it is either 96.5 FM or 96.7 FM."

Looks like the NJ Demo-rats called in the gumba squad.

"NJSC to NJ Votors - Election Laws, Fuhgettaboutit!"

Check New Jersey law on this. In most states the appointed senator serves only to the next general election. That would be in two years (minus two months) and would that be enough for the stink to die down?

Check the Law? That's a waste of time in New Jersey, the law there is written on the fly to accomodate the Democrat Debacle du Jour, so you cannot know the law until they make it up.

This scenario makes no sense to me. Why would McG risk the backlash?

The Democrats do not expect a large Backlash. They believe that in the state and the environment, that all of this is controllable.

I've heard this rumor as well, and not from the State Police. My source was a strong Democrat who simply couldn't bring himself to vote for a moron who, uh, "bats lefty." And he spoke about this topic as if it were a well-known fact, by the way.

Also, the State Police did not oppose McGreevey's appointment of the State Police Commissioner because he was "from outside the organization" -- they opposed the appointment because he had issues in his past that would have kept him from passing the State Police criminal background check. It makes no sense to have a police commissioner who isn't even qualified to be a rookie cop.

"...its plausible except for the two month part and the Torricelli part. But I could believe that Lautenberg steps down after 18 months with a health problem and one of the other gnomes, say Menendez or Pallone gets the job..."

The word is that Lautenberg is almost 80 years old, and he wants to be retired. The word is that he has health issues. It is understood that he is doing this as part of his political connections, and that he WILL NOT run out the term if he gets elected. Again, it is supposed to be,by people in the know, that he will only be in office for two months - no more. Further, it is already known,by those in the know, who will replace him.

1) I beg to differ. Some Dem strategists are quite worried about a backlash as NJ currently is. How could they not worry about the scenario Severn is projecting?
2) Again, why risk even the smallest backlash? What is the pay-off?

Jay Severin's only claim to fame are his ugly sweaters. He used to wear them when he used to be an MSNBC talking head.

"...What kind of a Idiot is this guy. ..."

Jay Severin is a Radio Talk Show Host. He has over 20 years experience in Politics as an Election Consultant, and as a Political Commentator. I believe that he used to be on TV on MSNBC and, I think, CBS.

He did say that he would not have an election for six years. I added that. It is my mistake. However, he did state that he felt that once in the Senate again, that he wouldn't have any trouble staying in office.

Somebody should ask the Toons about the pay-off. You can bet they're up to their eyeballs in this. The DNC doesn't wipe its collective backside without asking their permission first.

People, People....never underestimate the RATS....who'd of thought they would pull the switch, why wouldn't they do this...it's hard for us to understand the criminal mind, they don't think rationally, besides they know they can get away with it.

"... I'd like to have something a bit more substansive that what Jay Severin thinks before I give this any credence...."

Jay Severin will be on today. You can listen to his broadcast yourself. Please go HERE and listen, and maybe call in and ask him your self.

There are no even decimals in American FM radio, it is either 96.5 FM or 96.7 FM.

And there are even no decimals in American AM radio. (Well perhaps the Mike Malloy show, but that's content, not frequency.)

"... From Marriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (online):

Main Entry: def·er·ence

Function: noun
Date: 1660

see HONOR
- in deference to : in consideration of ..."

That's not how I meant it. Thanks for the correction. I meant to say "...in opposition to the deference to the law...". However, they did actually rule that the substitution was in deference to the law, now didn't they. Hum...

Too true. :) Though I used to have an old tube radio which listed AM frequencies in x100Hz. So old venerable KDKA 1020 was actually 10.2AM; bizarre.

It's still speculation on Severin's part. Unless he can give me more than speculation--named sources, for one--I'm putting this in the "When You Wish Upon A Star" category.
