"Pentagon says at least one US serviceman killed in bombing near Philippines "
Will Baghdad Bonior offer comfort to the men who killed this young serviceman, or maybe spit in the eye of the young man's mother? How about calling his Commander and Chief a liar? Come on creepy democrats, step up to the plate.

Washington it is said, is now huddling with French diplomats who favor a "two-step" approach. I favor a four-step approach:
1) completely destroy whatever is left of the Iraqi military.
2) find and destroy all their WMD (which could take quite a while).
3) Annex all their oil fields.
4) Build a giant U.S. military base right on Iraqi soil, and restation our soldiers currently stationed in Europe to do so.

The only option we have then is to attack before the inspectors arrive. Break out all the evidence of that meeting in Prague and the al-Qaeda types hiding in Iraq. Then dare the UN to do something about it.

I would add to your list:
-1) Leave UN
0) Evict UN from NYC

I concur completely, of course. They'd die a quick death without U.S. taxpayer dollars.

GWBush stepped into a tar baby by going this UN route. Now this inspection nonsense will be dragging on forever.
I don't see Saddam doing anything to upset the UN applecart. I would love to know who's on this inspection team. I hear few Americans are. How serious will these inspectors be? By taking Saddam's palaces off the list I already know the answers.

UN has decided to send its first group of inspectors into Baghdad on October 19. Fine, the shooting should be over by then.

If George Bush held a press conference today and announced that the United States wanted completely out of the UN...I wonder what would happen?
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
HMMMM, seems real sneaky to me. Does any think that maybe the Un is doing this CAUSE they Know we cant bomb if their inspectors are in there?????????????

The best the French ever had was LaFayette and Napoleon. They have not had an intelligent sperm in the pool bank since then.

We need to unilaterally bomb Baghdad before the inspectors arrive.
It's apparent that this needs to be President G.W. Bush's foreign policy legacy: reestablishing US sovereignty over whatever the UN proposes to do.

Blix and the U.N. are on a fool's errand. The weakness of their position is they can't deliver Saddam.

I think Bush went to the UN as a way of putting heat on the Democrat appeasers. His speech to the UN laid before it an ultimatum, but he needs to turn up the heat. If the UN doesn't do this right, we go in anyway -- that's what Bush needs to convey.

"Does any think that maybe the Un is doing this CAUSE they Know we cant bomb if their inspectors are in there?" Seems like a logical conclusion to me. This it tantamount to a slap in the face from the UN and we should plainly and concisely let them know that we will not be held responsible for the safety of the inspectors.

Short of a vote in the Security Council, it was not clear how the U.S. could block such a move.Uh, taking out the landing strip?
