One of my sons came down with a viral flu-like infection that meshed up almost exactly with the CDC's West Nile symptom list. The neck ache and mental confusion in particular beyond a normal flu. He had it less than 48 hours. Also have seen dead blue jays. FWIW. This is a war. Very much like the Injun Wars -- which lasted pretty much from 1600 or so through 1900 or so. Three HUNDRED years of various intensity fighting until one legal, social and religious system forced out the lesser competition. Hooray!

Far far away the M51 or NGC 5194 galaxy collides in a very very close encounter with its companion galaxy, NGC 5195

If you were on a planet orbiting a star in one of these, you'd probably not notice the collision, except that the night sky might be noticably changing. Maybe not even that, unless you count "noticably" as being with a few lifetimes. The orbits of the stars get somewhat disrupted, but unless another star got really close, it wouldn't bother the planets all that much. One could of course get that unluckly, but it wouldn't be very likely.

Wow! FWIW, Roland is a Franco-German system, 'nuff said. Although I think the New Mexico National Guard once fielded a battery of them, may still but I don't think so. It was a de-metric-ated version no less, by Martin Marietta, IIRC.
