Okay - just home from hubby's eye surgery, dinner in oven, tv on, live thread, I'm reading frantically to get caught up here. Are we sure yet that if he resigns, Dem. Governor legally can appoint someone to replace Torricelli for TWO YEARS?

Are we sure yet that if he resigns, Dem. Governor legally can appoint someone to replace Torricelli for TWO YEARS? While the NJ law reads that way, that would be a violation of the Seventeenth Ammendment. This seat is up in January 2003, not 2005.
