I don't think Clinton could be the Vice President. One of the qualifications to be the vice President is that you must be qualified to be the POTUS. Clinton can never be President again so I believe that disqualifies him

so the RATS aren't going to get away with any games, no matter how clever they think they might be.

Please see my previous post about the Clinton game that may actually work.

Somebody ought to pay you to write these gems.

He does NOT want to be senator, but he will take it just so he can win the election then resign.

I was thinking the same thing. I was afraid to post it because it seemed too outlandish. It's perfectly legal, and would work.

No --- slick willie CANNOT run on the VP ticket.. The constitution mandates that whomever is the VP candidate must meet the EXACT requirements as the Presidential candidate..

Since slick cannot run as President (thank G_D), he cannot be a VP candidate either..

The 'Rats are already claiming states rights and Federalism for their cause to explain the skullduggery...

That is also why the reject Bush's judicial appointments.

A VP candidate must meet the requirements of a President. Clinton would be ineligible to be president, therefore he is ineligible to be VP.

Why all this talk about Bubba as the VP? We're talking about the torch and a senator slot from NJ.

The 'Rats are already claiming states rights and Federalism for their cause to explain the skullduggery! I want to vomit now..

Not that it matters to them, but even states cannot change their own laws in the middle of the game.

THIS is Gore's legacy. From now on, in every election, someone is going to be running to court.

Sounds like Judge Neopolitico may be wrong on the 1 year election delay. Me thinks not:

"NJ Statute 19:3-26 Vacancies in United States senate; election to fill; Current through L.2002, c. 76

19:3-26. Vacancies in United States senate; election to fill; temporary appointment by governor

If a vacancy shall happen in the representation of this state in the United States senate, it shall be filled at the general election next succeeding the happening thereof, unless such vacancy shall happen within thirty days next preceding such election, in which case it shall be filled by election at the second succeeding general election, unless the governor of this state shall deem it advisable to call a special election therefor, which he is authorized hereby to do. The governor of this state may make a temporary appointment of a senator of the United States from this state whenever a vacancy shall occur by reason of any cause other than the expiration of the term; and such appointee shall serve as such senator until a special election or general election shall have been held pursuant to law and the board of state canvassers can deliver to his successor a certificate of election."

It doesn't apply here since there is no vacancy but would apply if the Torch does what the dems are undoubtedly urging him to do - resign. Am I reading this wrong?

I would think that the succession would skip over him to someone else. That would be the simplest thing to do.

Interesting to see Clinton's name come up in all this discussion of Torch's seat. Do you suppose he's planning a move to NJ as we type? Why not two senators named Clinton, eh? Now that's a scary thought.....

The RATS' only hope is to be able to play the court system in hopes of getting some well-known name forced onto the ballot before 11/5. Unless they can pull that off (and there's plenty of reason to believe even that would be unconstitutional, though it appears to be untested), then Forrester has already won.

Agreed. If they pull this off, they win. And if they lose, they have an issue to pump the base. Both better alternatives than sitting by and watching Toricelli go down in flames -- another example of an arrogant, selfish dimocrat politician for the country to examine and dispise.

Someone (on Fox, I think) speculated that Clinton still had the weekend to establish residency in NJ and run in Torricelli's place.
