This Is In Tribute To Our Armed Forces
After seeing this photo, I was instantly reminded of those times in the past when getting inserted on a Fastrope - which is done from a much lower altitude without harnesses - but this photo brought back that pucker factor better than any other I've ever seen.
To all of our servicemen and women who are out there today putting your asses on the line for us back here, just remember that there is definitely one segment of the population that stands behind you 100%. We'll cover your six back here, so don't worry when you read the statements from any of the communists in Congress. Just stay safe, fight hard, and send as many of Allah's rejects to meet their virgins as necessary. In all honesty, instead of saying "wish you were here" I can say "I wish I was there".

I would rather try to hit the deck with a jet engine.

Clarification: That's not a fastrope exercise. It looks like a SPIE rig extraction, presumably from the flight deck.

You'd certainly have to trust the crew chief and pilots on this exercise - plus hope the deck isn't pitching up and down. Then try to imagine doing this at night.

Being a land-lubbing grunt, fastrope was the closest analogy in my experiences. I knew from the harnesses that they have on it wasn't exactly fastrope either - but thanks for the clarification that they are going up!

What gets me here is how much bigger the Tomcat (F-14) is compared to the Hornet (F/A-18).

I'm glad that as a former 13B10, I never had to try my hand at anything similar to that.

"Fire Mission!"
Anybody ever STABO? First time up we used our own Swiss Seats we tied with rope. Only problem was a slight compression on the family jewels. I had to pull myself up on the harness to keep from passing out. My roomie laughed his butt off. Once I got the seat squared away flying like Superman was fun

Been there, done that.
It was one of the coolest things I got to do while in the Corps. I got a cool pic of the USS New Orleans while I was up. It looks like a postcard photo.

It looks like a SPIE rig extraction, presumably from the flight deck. It is.
