I thought CASA is the Australian authority, and CAA is the UK one?

I have a good buddy who is a tower controller, and is the most laid back guy I know, until some piece of computer equipment fails him... then he explodes. He's away at the war right now (reservist). Anyway, he has to pass a Class II physical at annual interval, IIRC.

The FAA has bunches of older controllers who have a hard time with the physicals and have to be decertified, and assigned to desk work. In this country (USA), where the 60-year-airline retirement has withstood legal challenges, this kind of nonsense probably can't pass.

At least, not unless the Democrats get both the White House and the Senate for five or ten years to put these sorts of judges in, eh.

Well, you know why they're there, but ask any FA: the flying (pax) public sure as hell doesn't.

I expect we will see more challenges like this, as people continue to get porkier and the heffalumps band together into the latest victim group. Paugh! (I could use to lose some pounds myself, it would help my rate of climb).

Anyway... in a weird way it is encouraging that it is not only our nation where the discrimination PC police and the lawyers and courts are out of their suffering minds.
