Well, not terribly, but he's like a lot of these sort of "niche" performers--whom I typically enjoy a lot more than the "big names" for what it's worth. I call him a "Mucky Duck-er" after the "Mucky Duck," a club here in Houston that tends to feature these types of performers (Earle has played there on numerous occasions).
Another example would be Leo Kottke, the guitarist of whom I've been a fan for more than 25 years, but who most people have never heard of.
These types often feature as guests on PBS shows like "Prairie Home Companion" or "Mountain Stages."
