You gotta be kidding! She was WAILING away on that poor kid. And it sure didn't look like she was pulling her punches. Plus the Mom knew she was doing something wrong because she carefully looked around to see if anybody was watching.
"(WSBT) NEWS22 has learned the father of the 4 year-old girl beat on video-tape faces 2 felony charges in Montana. John Toogood is facing charges in Montana that he was involved in a roofing scam. And 4 years ago in Philadelphia, Toogood pleaded guilty to being involved in another roofing scam. He's married to Madelyne Toogood the woman caught on tape beating her four year old daughter in Mishawaka. ... ..."
Maybe not kids who never had much attachment to 'mommy" in the first place.
My friend took in her broke brother in law. He stole her jewelry, her husband's license and sold her rental car. (Someone came to the door claiming they paid $8000 for it the day after he left.) He rented out her mother's apartment to 4 different people. (They all met when they tried to move in on the same day). This is a nice spoken well dressed guy. When they called the police, turned out he was a professional and they were looking for him a LONG time. This is just part of the story.
These people have an advantage over normal ones, because normal ones are always caught by surprise by someone who just doesn't follow any rules of normal civility. And they will always get you because they are such good liars. In actuality, you are just a mark.
He has been following this like a hawk...
CAN'T wait to see what Rosen will do if the child WAS swapped....
Hmmm....Sounds like a good description of a certain recent Administration in DC.
Not if the people who surrendered are not the people on the tape.
How true.
Those who think the beating was "minor" or non-existent will still wear their foolishness with pride though.
To them, those of us who are enraged are all just voyeuristic reactionaries.
Toogood's attorney said it's "the craziest thing in the world" to suggest that police have the wrong woman and child.
Steven Rosen says, "That's the mother, and that's the daughter."
Rosen is the same lawyer/shill who had no answer for Bill O'Reilly when he was told about all the cars and trucks that Toogood owned. Rosen's clients are thieves.\
Toogood's Husband Has Long Rap Sheet
FNC
Johnny Toogood
Thursday, September 26, 2002
MISHAWAKA, Ind. Theres been a trove of information coming out recently about Madelyne Toogood, the mom caught on surveillance video beating her 4-year-old daughter in an Indiana parking lot, including her brushes with the law.
Her husband isnt squeaky clean, either.
Johnny Toogood, also known as John Tuga and John James Clark, has a rap sheet of his own, dating back several years and spanning several states.
Johnny was arrested in Philadelphia in 1998 and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and conspiracy, among other things, relating to four different elderly victims in a home repair roofing scam. He pleaded guilty to deception charges for ripping off elderly victims in a home-repair roofing scam and paid $7,000 restitution to a 92-year-old victim.
According to court documents obtained by Fox News, Johnny, during his confession, said, "Im down on my luck and I just needed money for my family. Its not right that a lot of people make a lot more money. All the men in my family do this. This isn't a violent crime."
The prosecutor in the Philadelphia case said Toogood basically admitted that these "scams" are how he makes money and is a way of life.
In the summer of 1999, Johnny was charged with deceptive practices -- a felony -- and elder abuse stemming from another alleged home improvement scam in Whitefish, Mont. A Whitefish detective told Fox News that Johnny convinced an 83-year-old woman that her roof needed to be fixed and charged her $3,000 more than the going market price. He then skipped town. Whitefish police tracked him down through his cell phone. He was arrested in Wyoming on Aug. 12, 1999, where his wife posted a $20,000 bond for him, which he jumped.
Fast forward to Jan. 17, 2002, which is when Toogood was finally arrested in Victoria, Texas. He subsequently returned to Montana, where he faces charges of deceptive practices and bail jumping, both felonies, as well as elder abuse, which is a misdemeanor. His trial date is scheduled for early 2003. Johnny has indicated that he will represent himself.
Whitefish police told Fox News they are working with the FBI, as well as police in other cities, all of whom are investigating Toogood's background.
The Mishawaka Police Department in Indiana -- where the infamous beating was caught on tape -- has launched a spin-off investigation into the finances of the Toogoods, according to police Chief Anthony Hazen. He has placed four officers on the case full time.
The department is looking into how a family of drifters, who perform odd jobs, can drive around in expensive vehicles. Fox News has learned that Madelyne recently had a 2000 Mercedes Benz and a pick-up truck registered in her name. The Toyota Sequoia SUV pictured in the surveillance videotape of the beating is registered to Madelyne Toogood's brother-in-law.
Madelyne, before her husband's rap sheet ever came to light, repeatedly characterized her husband as a reputable businessman. She has accused police of targeting her family because they are members of a nomadic group known as Irish Travelers, which has long ties to home improvement rip-offs.
"My husband is in with the Better Business Bureau and he still gets asked to leave places," Madelyne said during a press conference Sunday. "They still look at him and think he's up to something he's got 500 references of jobs he has did. And still police will come in and say you get outta here, we don't want you people."
Madelyne stressed it would be best for her daughter, Martha, to be reunited with her family, or at the very least, in the care of her husband or another family member. The girl has been in the custody of foster care since her mother surrendered to Indiana authorities on Sunday.
"My husband is devastated, there's no other words," Madelyne said Sunday. "But if he has to, you know, if he gets custody of Martha, me and him will separate while he, you know, she is the most important thing right now. Give Martha back with somebody in my family."
Fox News' Jeff Goldblatt contributed to this report.
HMMMMMMMM no wonder she got Steven "Rocket" Rosen...she WILL need a "Rocket Scientist" when this is all figured out...LOL!!!
Ah.....was that the Miller clan per chance?
I have no love in my heart for Roma or Tinkers or any Gypsy. I've had to deal with the wreckage these rascally thieves leave in their wake.
One incident in-particular stays with me:
I got a call to investigate a theft. It was a 90-ish year-old great-grandmother who lived alone in the run-down house in which she was born. A couple 'contractors' knocked and offered to re-roof her leaky porch for twenty dollars. While one guy surveyed the roof, the other disappeared. She knew something was up, but felt too intimidated by these big, fat bastards to say anything. The other guy came round front, and they said they had to go get some nails for the job.
While they were gone, the old gal searched and found that the bums had absconded with her life's savings of about $12,000: coffee can in the kitchen!!!
I got there while she was still waiting for them to come back. Poor thing: all she wanted to do was putter in her garden and live out her days in that old country home, using the cash to take care of the taxes and food that her small widow's benefit didn't cover. I held her in my arms as she sobbed; her last living child was in a nursing home, and she faced the grim prospect of going to one herself.
She could provide no worthwhile description of the men or the vehicle: she was nearly blind. I never got 'em.
A few months later I saw the house boarded-up, and the garden gone to seed. Still brings tears to my eyes thinkin' about it.
And that's why I hate Gypsies so: they pray on widows, the infirm, and the hapless , more trusting than is wise.
Then there was the travel agency from which they stole a shief of computerized airline tickets (they came in gang-style...asking lots of questions): about $60,000 worth, which the agency had to make good to the airline. That small business is no longer in business.
I hate 'em..I hate 'em...I hate 'em.
We cought two guys once; Mr Miller, the 'King', paid the complainant's damages and the bad guys were out, never to be seen again. Meantime I ran a III and print-check on them and got back about 20 different names, licenses in several different states....you get the picture. And that doesn't include the arrest records of states that don't report to the FBI database. These guys are so far under the radar, the courts can't deal with them. No one can say who the hell they really are! (Except a certain "Mr. Miller").
The only redeeming quality I can think of is that they don't crap in their own back yard, so to speak. They go to other states and countries to do that. So if you live next door, you're probably safe...from them...but certainly not their visiting business associates.
I got no use for 'em. They are among the most vile. And I understate.
