First time I ever heard that "ma'am" is considered a derogatory term. So I guess the military allows enlisted men "insult" female officers with that horrible derogatory term, "ma'am."

In the Navy don't they say "Sir"? I'd love to see him accidentally say "Yessir". That would really get her going.

Actually, I understand Queen Elizabeth likes to be addressed as "mum," which I would think is the equivalent of "ma'am".
