Though he feels "more American than Canadian," ABC's Peter Jennings has never applied for dual citizenship since moving to the United States in 1964.

"There are a lot of complicated reasons, many of them private and having to do with my family," says Jennings, 64, in town yesterday to hype his new book, In Search of America, and to anchor World News Tonight from Independence Mall.

I haven't seen anything from Peter to indicate that he is American by sentiment. Here we have a man lecturing Americans about their government every night and he can't even vote.

After all of this time he still has reservations about becoming an American. Meanwhile, when he was on Larry King recently, a caller asked what Peter thought of recent anti-American statements by the Canadian PM. Larry at first denied such sentiment, Peter pleaded ignorance (if it ain't on the teleprompter, he don't know it), and a staffer soon presented Larry with an article which Mr. King proceeded to spin.
