Sorry, but this is not good news.
Once again we are 'allowed' to exercise a RIGHT. When it takes permission from the government, it is NOT a RIGHT.

This is excellent news. While you are correct that when permission from the government is required, it is no longer a right, this action shows that we are winning the culture war, the first step to restoring our rights in this republic.

Sorry, but this is not good news. Oops. I meant to post "Relatively good news for Virginia Gun Owners, given the oppressive nature of our anti-Constitutional government."
My context was absent this morning.

we are winning the culture war, the first step to restoring our rights in this republic. Considering Warner, a democrat, supported lifting the ban in direct and blatant opposition to "do it for the children" groups like MMM and HCI/Brady, I concur this is good news, indeed.
It would have been VERY easy to say, nope, the ban stays - the fact he did not is an indication we are indeed making progress.

Try to recognize a step in the right direction.
The dems took away your rights in small steps. If we don't do the same, we'll continue to lose. Big steps are fine and dandy but unless we get a court ruling, it isn't going to happen.

What this amounts to is the
Virginia Citizens Defense League forcing the state government to obey the law. They're also forcing local governments to obey the law, by making them take down "no guns" signs in parks, civic centers, etc. State law denies the localities the authority to place such signs.

We had the same thing happen in Texas. Local Communities started to put signs in parks and community centers in violation of the state law. On the plus side, they also amended the law against CCW holders in churches so we could carry. The change never was printed in the CCW law pamphlets.
Another interesting fact is that prosecuters, judges and the indigent pay only half price. I accidently paid the half price so I think my renewal will be delayed. I really should take the opportunity to threaten to sue under equal rights acts. I don't mind someone with no money being able to carry but why should prosecuters and judges get a money discount?
