Well, of course, other telecomms are a possibility, but the whole industry is suffering. Might be better to make a clean break of it if things come to that. Luckily, we will get a decent severence package which will provide us with some time to make decisions.

I've been there before (several times). It is not a good idea to wait. If you wait, then you get the severence, but you go into the pool with however many others get the green weenie at the same time as you. I'm in telecom too, so I know what the market is like. The average time between jobs is 14 weeks nationwide. Start looking NOW.
