Because the family appears to be a bunch of crooks that would hide the child in a heartbeat while the mother took off on bail(something Irish travelers are known for doing--jumping bail). Believe me, this time, they would find a way to hide them better too. I don't think they thought this would get the attention it did the first time around or she would have stayed underground. Pressure was on and it put focus on their less than savory organization. I think the sooner folks here realize we are not dealing with your average American family, the sooner you will understand the reasons behind why Martha is not with any family members.

I think what this lady did was despicable & there is no excuse for her actions. However, because she abused the child does not mean the father has ever abused the child. If the situation was reversed where the father beat the kid, do you think CPS would take the child away from the mother?

The key word in your sentence is appears. I agree, there are numerous stories about Irish Travelers, and I am not sticking up for them, but until there is evidence or charges against the father or the relatives it is my opinion the child should be with her father than with the government. God forbid, my wife ever did this, I certainly wouldn’t want the government to take my kids from me because people of my same ethnicity were unsavory.
