I doubt under normal circumstances, the state would remove the child for a thrashing. Except these people are flight risks due to their transient and shady lifestyle.

This makes them all bad. I'm not defending them, but I've been ripped off by members of most 'groups' , I'm sure also by a member of your group.

You, apparently, are terribly naive about what state CPS agencies do on a regular basis. Simple spanking or anonymous imaginary reports of abuse often lead to removal. Please educate yourself on this.
