It appears we are going to have a governor's race after all. Ed Rendell was leading Mike Fisher by double digits, but that lead has been cut to eight points. We still have a long way to go. Be sure to watch the televised debates. The first one held on Thursday was informative and entertaining.
Actually Michael Morrill of the Green Party would be a better Democratic candidate than Ed Rendell and Libertarian Ken Krawchuck would be a better Republican candidate than Mike Fisher. I say that because Krawchuck thinks like I do on many issues. He doesn't want the government spending our money.

Sean Rushton of Citizens Against Government Waste notes that, "If Senate Agriculture Appropriations subcommittee member Conrad Burns, Montana Republican, has his way, $4,285,000 worth of pork will flow back home, including $675,000 for the Montana Sheep Institute, a very baaaaad idea for taxpayers."
It is also a " very baaaaad idea" for the veterans who served our country.
Due to a glut of patients and a shortage of funds, there are more than 300,000 veterans waiting for clinic appointments, with some waiting more than six months.
These are our men and women who have honorably served their country. That money should be used for their well being.
How long do you suppose Sen. Burns-- or any other U.S. senator or congressmanmust wait to see a doctor? You are paying their medical bills.
I don't know what the Montana Sheep Institute will do with all that money, but I think People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) should look into it.

Another PETA ALERT!!!!!, Saddam Hussein is eating gazelles. The animal rights wackos are going to go ballistic.
Parisoula Lampsos,54, told ABC's Claire Shipman that she was Hussein's on-and-off mistress for 30 years. She revealed that Hussein likes to have milk with honey, and eats gazelle meat for dinner. That does it, gazelle meat. How does Sen. Burns stand on the gazelle issue? How much money should we send the Montana Gazelle Institute?

These PETA people are a tough bunch. According to a Fox News report,
critics of PETA are seeking an end to the organization's tax-exempt, non-profit status following revelations the group gave money to eco-terrorists blamed for a Vail ski resort fire causing $700,000 in damage and other acts of violence."
PETA gave $1,500 to the Earth Liberation Front, which the FBI has described as "one of America's largest domestic terrorist groups." What's more, ELF has admitted to torching a U.S. Forest Service laboratory in Pennsylvania in August. The blaze caused $700,000 in damage and destroyed 70 years of research."
Fox also reports, PETA has also made other grants to "environmental radicals":
o$5,000 to Josh Harper, who was convicted of assaulting police and firing on a fishing vessel;
o$2,000 to Dave Wilson, convicted of firebombing a fur cooperative;
o$7,500 to Fran Trutt, convicted of attempted murder of a medical executive;
o$20,000 to Rodney Coronado, convicted of burning a research lab at Michigan State.
I think PETA ought to send this mob to Iraq to take care of that gazelle-eating tyrant Saddam Hussein.

Lawyers for the Lakawanna Six, who some call "Al Qaeda Democrats" say their clients were nothing but a bunch of green post-teens who thought they had signed up for the Osama Club Med and were shocked when they were handed guns. Evidently, all of them are registered Democrats in New York State! Will Sen. Hillary Clinton spring them in time for them to vote in the November election. Stay tuned.

Off The Internet:
Today we mourn the passing of an old friend, by the name of
Common Sense. Common Sense lived a long life but died recently in the United States. No one really knows how old he was, since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape.
He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools, hospitals,
homes, factories helping folks get jobs done without fanfare and foolishness. For decades, petty rules, silly laws, and frivolous lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. He was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as to know when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, and that life isn't always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies (the adults are in charge, not the kids), and it's okay to come in second. A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Technological
Revolution, Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends including body piercing, whole language, and "new math." But his health declined when he became infected with the "If-it-only-helps-one-person-it's-worth-it" virus.
In recent decades his waning strength proved no match for the ravages of well intentioned but overbearing regulations. He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers. His health rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero-tolerance
policies.
Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, a teen suspended for taking a swig of mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his
condition. It declined even further when schools had to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the parent when a female student was pregnant or wanted an abortion.
Finally, Common Sense lost his will to live as the Ten
Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, criminals received better treatment than victims, and federal judges stuck their noses in everything from the Boy Scouts to professional sports. Finally, when people, too stupid to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, were
awarded a huge settlement, Common Sense threw in the towel.
As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments regarding questionable regulations such as those for low flow toilets, rocking chairs, and stepladders.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by two stepbrothers: My Rights, and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
Excellent!
I hope this is right.
Did any Delaware Valley Freepers happen to catch Dom Giordanos show on 1210 last night? He had a State Senator (cant recall his name, but rest assured he was a dem.) who stated that he believed that somewhere between 20 to 25% of registered voters in PA didnt have any form of photo ID. Thats why requiring ID at polling places needs much, much more study
Personally, I believe that only 20 to 25% of the good Senators brain is functioning and that seems to be occupied with breathing.
