Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji says an attack on Iraq without a United Nations mandate will lead to 'severe consequences.' The Prime Minister also said there had to be hard evidence that Iraq is producing weapons of mass destruction. The Chinese Prime Minister's comments were made shortly after British Prime Minister Tony Blair revealed a secret dossier which states that Iraq can launch an offensive using chemical or biological weapons within 45 minutes.
The dossier has brought mixed reactions; some experts say it reveals nothing new, while others see it as overwhelming evidence that Iraq is producing chemical and biological weapons.
According to Baghdad, the claims made in the document are entirely baseless.
The British parliament returned from recess today (Tuesday) to discuss the Iraq question.

Why should Zhu Rongji be any more relevant than Al Gore?

Unfortunate. But there's not much we can do about it aside from being firmly polite. I don't think their strategic interests are threatened nearly as much as they were when we went into Central Asia.

From this we can assume China would veto such a resolution at the UN. An option for Bush would be to simply announce that the U.S. intends to enforce EXISTING UN resolution in order to prevent he UN from becoming irrelevant.

There will be "severe consequences". A lot of "severe" stuff will happen. Severe stuff may even happen to us. Severe stuff may even happen to them.

Hold on .....not so fast about the Chinese veto.
This is their way of telling us that the price for them to abstain just went up.

The rest of the world views America as a bully. China is standing up to this bully. Don't meddle in the affairs of others if it doesn't concern you. And also good job in vietnam. Truth be told, you don't have any evidence. Presidents, either share it w/ the public or stop pushing for war. Nobody wants war. The most that China's going to do is send technology to Iraq. Perhaps other countries as well. More likely it will veto American bills that come up in the security council. Provide some "hard evidence" or go it alone.

From this we can assume China would veto such a resolution at the UN Possible, but it depends on how the resolution is worded.

$18 per BBL of oil for the next 10 years might be an interesting inducement with China being guaranteed supplies from the Occupied Iraq Oil Administrative Trust?
