Gore blasts Bush's 'cowboy' Iraq policy

In one of the most forceful Democratic condemnations of President Bush's foreign policy, former Vice President Al Gore warned in San Francisco on Monday that a pre-emptive strike on Iraq would distract America from its war on terrorism and "weaken our ability to lead the world."

Last night I watched "High Noon". It had been awhile but the lesson applies to our confrontation with Saddam. The townspeople knew who the "bad guys" were. Some wre afraid and others were more supportive to the returning murderer. In the end, Gary Cooper won the day without any help from the twonfolk. His wife, Grace Kelly, backed him when the time came.

If this is the type of cowboy the Demoncraps and allies accuse Wubya of emulating, then I say,

AL GORE UNDERMINES AMERICA
I guess you’ve already heard some excerpts from Al Gore’s speech in California yesterday. If you did, I hope they were played right alongside some excerpts from Tony Blair’s speech to the British Parliament this morning. Comparing the two … Blair comes across as a leader. Gore comes across as a hack politician.

Gore has decided that his political fortunes will best be served by mounting an attack on George Bush’s plans to unseat Saddam Hussein. To really boost his chances to defeat Bush in 2004 Gore has to paint Bush as a failure. So, at the very beginning of his speech, Gore comes out with this gem:

"I believe that we ought to be focusing our efforts first and foremost against those who attacked us on September 11th and who have thus far gotten away with it."

Gotten away with it? The conventional wisdom is that Osama Bin Laden is dead. He most likely died in a cave in the Tora Bora Mountains. Al Qaeda is scattered. Their training bases are gone. Al Qaeda leadership is either dead, hiding, running like hell, or in custody. And this is what Al Gore describes as “getting away with it?

Al Gore is doing the same thing that Bill Clinton tried to do a few weeks ago. He’s trying to create an aura of failure around Bush’s conduct of the war on terrorism. Gore and his leftist fellow travelers know that discrediting Bush, painting him as a failure in his war on terror, is an essential element of Democratic electoral success. Electoral success is more important to the Democrats this November and in 2004 than is neutralizing any threat Saddam Hussein poses to America.

What is the Democrats worst nightmare? Bush sends the troops in. Saddam is removed from power. American troops find evidence of an ongoing program to develop chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. Evidence is also found which showed that Hussein had plans to use these weapons against America, Israel and his Arab neighbors. The goal? To become the ruler of the entire Arab world, and of all the oil supplies in the Middle East. Saddam is out, Bush is a hero – and the Democrats see their chances dim not only in 2004, but beyond.

How do the Democrats prevent this scenario from becoming reality? Keep Bush out of Iraq. Paint his as a warmonger as Cynthia Tucker is trying to do.

As for Saddam, once the Democrats are in power they can “discover” a new threat from Saddam and move to neutralize it, thus making them the heroes.

The darker side of my personality harbors this scenario where President Bush just throws his hands up and says “OK, fine. Have it your way. We will take no military action against Iraq unless Saddam Hussein attacks us first.” Then, about six months or a year down the road there are reports of a case of smallpox in Chicago. Then one in Detroit. Then there are two cases; three, a dozen. More cases pop up in New York.

Suddenly it is very clear that America is under attack. It’s not a nuclear bomb secreted across the Canadian border in a minivan. It’s not deadly chemicals sprayed from one of this deadly general aviation airplanes. No, just a couple of people with Smallpox spreading the introducing the highly contagious disease into about six major American cities.

An emergency inoculation program is begun. People wait in line for hours for the vaccination process .. hoping they haven’t yet been infected. Soon one of the disease carriers is found, dead. The FBI determines that he is from the Middle East. Further investigation finds he is from Iraq. He, and his fellow carriers, were unknowingly infected with the disease and sent to the US.

Before the completion of my dark imaginary scenario smallpox spreads across the United States. Fatalities add up to the tens of thousands. This is America, so it’s time to assess blame.

Is there any way in the world that Al Gore or his fellow Democratic appeasers would say, “We’re sorry. The President was right, and we should have supported him in his efforts to get rid of Saddam Hussein”? Yeah, sure they would. You know what would happen. Al Gore would take to the stump before some fundraiser to blast Bush for the intelligence failures that led to this smallpox invasion. Bush would be blamed for his “bellicose and belligerent attitude” that led Saddam Hussein to launch this attack. Bill Clinton would pass down the word to DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe to attack Bush for the lack of preparedness in America’s major cities. One way or another .. Bush’s fault.

I don't know which is worse.
Gore's stiff wooden public image, or his pathetic attempts to make himself over with these 'I'm just a spontaneous, from the gut kind a dude' cliches.
Just like his so-called 'spontaneous' Tipper kiss on stage during the 2000 campaign.

With Bush, we may not know for sure if Bin Laden is dead or alive and we don't have him in custody if he IS alive, but at least those negatives are a plus compared to a Gore Administration...THERE, we'd be sitting across from a table with the bastard, able to reach out & touch him or even wring his neck, but we wouldn't because like Clinton, Gore wouldn't take him for fear of making the UN mad.

Does anybody really pay attention to or really care what an ex-vice president, presidential looser, says about anything? Why does this need to be discussed? What about Dan Quale (gets a heck of a lot more respect from me than Algore ever will) says about Iraq?
