AL GORE, FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: ... our most urgent task right now is to shift our focus and concentrate on immediately launching a new war against Saddam Hussein. And the president is proclaiming a new uniquely American right to preemptively attack whomsoever he may deem represents a potential future threat.

CROWLEY: You know, Al Gore is also -- has been known tell people around him he's also upset that, in terms of the discussion on the economy, that the Democrats haven't sort of taken that and really run with it.

And Algore's speech further takes the debate away from the economy and focuses it on Iraq.

And then over the weekend he [Jeffords] actually went a little bit further and said that he believes that the White House is playing politics here, suggesting that all this talk about Iraq is an effort to do well in mid-term elections.

And Jeffords wasn't playing politics when he knew his switch would swing control of the Senate to the Demmycrats?

"SCHNEIDER: Mixed. President Bush is asking Congress to give him unlimited authority to use military action against Iraq whenever he feels that is necessary to protect U.S. security. "Now, do Americans want Congress do that? And the answer is, they're not sure. Forty-seven percent say yes, 51 percent say no. That's not just an issue that divides the country, it also sharply divides the two political parties. Three-quarters of Republicans believe Congress should pass the resolution the president wants. Two-thirds of Democrats say no. Rank and file Democrats have felt leaderless on this issue. That's why Al Gore spoke out today."

Thanks, Bill, for saying it for me.

Algore read the poll results and said, "Gosh Dam, we need to make a speech!"

For the Dems, it's always the polls...never what's good for the country.

My God, what morons! Is this some kind of double blond joke?

CROWLEY: Well, the other -- now, what the former vice president seems to have been saying in this speech, which is still ongoing, is Saddam Hussein's a bad guy.

Stunning observation.

The only interesting thing about this excerpt is that they gave face time to Nancy Pelosi, who is said to be chief spokesmam for the leftist faction of the party who would like to torpedo the war authorization in congress.

This may mean that the Powers that Be behind the Liberal Press have decided to go all out with Pelosi. Which if true is probably good news, because it will make the Democrats look like idiots and complicate Daschle's life exceedingly.

WOODRUFF: If we are watching Al Gore and Iraq, what do we look for next here?

REPORTER: I would say it's just about the time Al will pull out the bennie with the little propeller on top, Judy. I would be looking for the bennie. That will be the next Al Gore. Judy?

WOODRUFF: You say he mentioned the economy but didn't develop it.

REPORTER: Actually, he said he DID develop it, Judy. Right after he invented the internet and right before he invented the refrigerator magnet. Judy?

Jeffords isn't going to vote for the bill...well imagine that?!!! I'm shocked. Jeffords had better enjoy the rest of his senate term, because it'll be his last.

Unbelieveable how hard these folks work to make it seem like Algore is actually worth listening to, even as they literally put the words in his mouth.

. . .but try as they may. . .they cannot make a 'silk purse' out of Algore's 'pig's ear' rhetoric. . .

W has been reluctant to invest any political capital on anything in his presidency so far. I think he needs to put all his chips on the table on this issue, or the war on terrorism will be dead in the water.

Using the word "war" for an effort doesn't mean that's what it is. It can be merely a rhetorical construct for a half-baked girly-man kind of a thing. There's a thing about a war that you can depend on - there's going to be collateral damage. Unwillingness to tell people that reveals you're not being honest.

While we're at it, we might as well quit mincing words and call it the war on radical islam.

Someone who hasn't decided if he's going to run, eh?

Lemme tell these dingbat CNN "reporters" (if you can call them that) how to tell if someone is running.

Is Gore throwing himself in front of every camera he can find expressing opposite opinions from those of the Bush Administration?

Then he's RUNNING, YOU DOLTS!!! GO BACK TO SLINGING FRIES AT MCDONALDS UNTIL YOU CAN GET A CLUE & LET SOMEONE WITH MORE BRAIN CELLS THAN HITLERY HAS PANTSUITS HAVE A GO AT IT!!!
