There's a lot that isn't in this post and more stories to be related about this weekend, but it's time for other's to take up the thread now.

Great report Dixie! Wow, you are much better at details than me.
Here are a couple of photos...

Miss Dixie and the US Flag Balloon. We even managed to find the flag where they landed!

What a tremendous recap of the events. It filled in some details, that I missed. All I can say is, what a tremendous experience! You are right, nothing can describe standing under that magnificent flag as it rises off the ground to stand erect. I believe the number is 120.000 cubic feet of air inside it! Its magnificent. Just wonderful people, it was an honor to be a (small) part of the crew.

This weekend's Plano Balloon Festival had perfect weather, but was a total bust, due to you and The Bare not being here.
:-(

They have moved the date of the Statesville rally to the end of May for next year. They are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of flight. I'm hoping they invite us back. It was a great rally.

Well sir, you had a very important job. Crucial in fact. Keeping that tank in the right spot is the job that always makes me a bit nervous. You are in good company though.

I will be there. Do you ever get an invitation to Burlington's?

Abner, you'll love it. The festival is near the stable where my horse is boarded, and the horses go nuts. (Unlike me, they are easily excitable)
To: LurkerNoMore!
LOL!
We have horses around here that go nuts for balloons too ;-)
Actually, the horses get used to the balloons. Sometimes owners are so freaked out about the noise from the balloons, it freaks the horses out. Once they get used to it, they are fine.

I sure am happy that we traveled yesterday and not today. I-40 & 85 was where that police chase and shooting was today.

Burlington, NC, usually has a big balloon rally on Mother's Day, unless I've gotten it wrong. I mean, it's not BIG like Statesville, but it's BIG.
