So anyone who makes you feel good is a phoney? I'm not into "Oprah-izing," but I didn't see that Rosie was overly "feel-goodish." Even if she was, however, isn't that a MAIN point of entertainment?

And if we are judging entertainers on looks, since when was Jack Benny or Milton Berle, or the Smothers Brothers, or Red Skelton great looking? If what my wife tells me is accurate, Rosie's show was excellent because it did not deal with a lot of heavy issues, but focused on celebs, recipes, house-related stuff, some medical, and kids. As long as she kept her lesbianism out, which she STRICTLY did, I don't see any difference in this and "Regis and Kathie Lee' or any other show. Not my cup of tea, but I certainly wouldn't say everyone who watches those are "dysfunctional."

Pete, apparently you didn't see the Dreyfus/Estevez "undercover" movie. She was extremely funny in that. Her "Ice Cream Armadillo" scene with Dennis Farina is a classic. I have XM radio, which has a comedy channel, so I get all the new---and OLD---comedy routines. She was pretty funny as a standup. She never did sexual humor. I can see how she made it. Just because you don't like some one, you don't have to be bitter.

I have no problem giving credit to successful people without ascribing everything they do to either sex or politics. Money has a lot to do with it, though. If you make money for other people, you will be successful.

I have to agree a little bit here. I saw her on O'Reilly's show and was surprised at how well she handled herself. I like to think that when she saw the planes hit those towers, she had a road to Damascus experience. I know of one guy who was somewhat ambivelant about being an American. After 9/11 and the news coming out about Islam, he has had a change of attitude. Maybe the act of war caused her to question some of her beliefs. Maybe, with enough introspection, she could be an advocate for the right. I know I may be stretching it, but stranger things have happened.

That was my though too. Who exactly was surprized by Rosie coming out? Why would it matter since 99 9/10% of us already knew?

I am not against feel-good television. In fact, it is preferable to all the talk-show schlock on television now. However, I think that Rosie's show was just a means to an end. I believe that she liked to play nice as long as it was making her money. However, just as soon as she had on Tom Selleck, I think it was just too much for her to sit there and play Ms. Nice. Just look at her personality since she quit the show and decided to go in-your-face lesbo. In my opinion, the jury is still out on how long this Bush-admiration of hers will last.

I've never seen her in a movie, and I've never caught her comedy act. I've seen her try comedy on her tv show, and she sucks. Has nothing to do with her sexual habits or politics. She's stupid and not funny.

Well, watch the Drefus Estevez movie, "Another Stakeout." It's pretty funny.

It might not last. But I think that she, and several other NEW YORKERS, had a wakeup call on much of liberalism's foreign policy (if not liberalism, total) after 9/11. It would not surprise me if her (and other former/current liberals') admiration for Bush stuck.

Certainly I think New York liberals, or many of them, had a Damascus Road experience, but obviously it did NOT translate to libs elsewhere. (see: Tim Robbins, the most brainless clod since Alex Baldwin).

Unlike some people here, I believe people can and do change---certainly not always for the better, but certainly not always for the worse, either. And even Jesus said that "those who are not against Me are with Me." (And, yes, I know the scriptures, in another place He also said those who are not for Him were against Him. It had to do with context). In other words, some people are persuadable, and I don't want to be the one to run them off just as they were about to "come over."

But my wife tells me that she never ONCE preached or even alluded to lesbianism or pro-gay issues; that she has never done so on her show

Her mere existence on the show is a allusion to lesbianism. When she is on we think "She's a lesbian". It's automatic and not overcomeable.

If Charles Manson had a show we'd be thinking "he's a murderer" no matter what he was talking about.

America doesn't want sexual deviants in our homes or on our TV's or on our newstands.

God Save America (Please)

John, come on. Do you really think when Jesus saw the woman at the well, He saw her as a harlot? Or did He see her as a woman who, like all, needed forgiveness and to repent?

This is the old "race" argument that Jesse Jackson liked to make, and which is wrong: I grew up watching Phoenix Suns basketball. I honestly didn't know that there were "black" and "white" players on the court---only Suns (good guys) and Lakers (spawns of hell).

I think you would be surprised that many (most?) people do NOT see a lesbian when they see Rosie, any more than they see a heterosexual when they look at you. Er, am I right there? (Don't want to insult you, one way or another).

Actually he saw her as both. She was a harlot. Jesus never denied people's actions or circumstances. He just told them to repent and sin no more. If he didn't see her as a harlot why did He tell her to repent?

This is the old "race" argument that Jesse Jackson liked to make, and which is wrong:

No this is a behavior argument. SAD is a chosen behavior

Lakers (spawns of hell).

correct

I think you would be surprised that many (most?) people do NOT see a lesbian when they see Rosie, any more than they see a heterosexual when they look at you.

When people look at a normal person (or closeted SAD for that matter) they see only a person because that person has not been identified as an oddity. Since the person doesn't attract attention to their own sexual proclivities the observer doesn't notice anything above the 'noise level' in that area. When they look at someone who has been identified as a sexual pervert, they see a sexual pervert. The pervert has jumped up and down and screamed "Look at me I'm a pervert" and this is far above the noise level. So we see a pervert. Rosie painted herself with her own words and actions and we see only what she painted (after all she'd been crying out to get our attention on it.

Ok, well we strongly disagree as to what has caused Rosie's magazine to tank.

I agree with you on "self-identification," though.

Masters and Johnson estimated the homosexual population to be ten percent. I think that was too high but even if it was not, I am not sure the target market would be able to support a publication like Rosie!
