With California's fiscal accounting starting to make WorldCom look like a straight shooter, voters should have more than a passing interest in who is elected the next state controller. The job is the equivalent of being chief financial officer for a major corporation. And like the controller's counterparts in corporate America, the state's CFO is the person who can and should blow the whistle if the brass is cooking the books.

Talk about bias. Why would opposition to the welfare state not normally imply common sense proposals on making government work more efficiently?
McClintock's reply was actually honest and addressed the point I raised. It was a breath of fresh air from the fetid chamber of nonsense the state house has become. If we had a thousand more like him in the state government the California people would live the archetype of freedom and prosperity.
He has my vote for state controller.
