A group calling itself "Not in Our Name" bought an ad in yesterday's New York Times proclaiming its opposition to America. (The ad, in PDF form, is available at http://www.nion.us/nion_NYT9-19.pdf.) "We call on all Americans to RESIST the war and repression that has been loosed on the world by the Bush administration," it declares. "It is unjust, immoral, and illegitimate." Among the signers are such luminaries as "Hanoi Jane" Fonda, Ed Asner, Susan Sarandon, Casey Kasem (of "America's Top 40" fame), Noam Chomsky, Gore Vidal, Edward Said, Ben Cohen (of Ben & Jerry's), Kurt Vonnegut and murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal.
The ad adds: "The brutal repercussions have been felt from the Philippines to Palestine, where Israeli tanks and bulldozers have left a terrible trail of death and destruction." Not a word about Palestinian terrorism, or indeed about any kind of terrorism except for the attacks of Sept. 11, which the signatories dismiss by likening them to "similar scenes in Baghdad, Panama City, and, a generation ago, Vietnam." ...

Perhaps if a war starts and American men are in combat the Government will haul out the treason section of the Constitution? After all these imbeciles will cross the line. Nah! That would take strength on the part of those who hold office. After all the office holders would lose cash and votes.

I've made a copy of the liberal losers on the list. I'd appreciate anyone who has anything to contribute on any of these individuals. Some I know of, and some I don't.
(Just a note-- the original article came out on June 14 of 2002.)

Sarandon, spokesperson for the signatories, who were sent on the peace mission by President Bush, reported that accord had been reached with the entire U.S.-hating world. "They've agreed to leave us alone for an annual payment of six-trillion dollars, bullion, per year", said Sarandon. She continued, "We think this is fair and equitable for all parties involved, and a small price to pay for eternal peace."
Reached for comment today, Saddam Hussein said that the six-trillion is not etched in stone, but rather a downpayment on more reasonable reparations. "For a thousand years, the evil United States has enslaved and wasted the globe: they have danced, now it is time to pay the orchestra", he snorted. "I was theenking more like seven trillion?"
Asked about where the United States would obtain the payments, Sarandon said that since [the U.S.] doesn't need the military any longer, a lot of money could me made available from its dismantlement. "And we have a lot of tourist attractions here that could draw overseas visitors. It's a low environmental impact industry," she added enthusiastically.

dasboot, the sad thing is that your parody of the moronic Susan Sarandon sounds way too real! That would be JUST what she and the Alec Baldwin's of the world would come up with!
BTW, I always wonder why the views of actors are sought out on important and complex issues. After all, these are people who put on makeup and pretend to be someone else for a living.
To: RANGERAIRBORNE
In the perverse world that exists between my ears, I wish the Prez would actually give 'em one month to go negotiate eternal peace...just to see what happens.
All the while continuing the military buildup, of course!
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see Kofi and Yassir lay a lip-lock on Susan....and/or Noam!
"Ewwwwwwwwww! He tongued me!!!"

Why does this group of pinkos have to create a new name for themselves for every issue? The whole world automatically knows where they stand ahead of time.

The end of the letter reads:
"And remember what our own history tells us: Silence in the face of injustice is complicity with injustice.
Unterzeichnerinnen:"
Note the use of a German word, Unterzeichnerinnin [the signers], in a letter to an Israeli Consul General. Interesting.

Shiny Happy People. Well they certainly don't agree with the elected leadership of the United States of America, so who wants to help them move? How many freighters would it take to move that list's earthly possessions to say...Zimbabwe? Or France??? I'm willing to help ;-)
To: TheSpottedOwl
I say we move them to Iraq, where they can be human shields for So Damn Insane.

Iraq, I love it!
Can't you see Noam Chomsky, Susan Sarandon, and the rest of the hippies holding hands and singing "Give Peace A Chance"? We'd better special order some burkhas for the ladies. Can't have them getting off the plane looking like US citizens.....hehe.

To: Schatze
No more Ben and Jerry's for me. Too bad...it's excellent ice cream. However I do believe that there are other excellent brands.
