The Democrat Party is beyond corrupt, It's also evil.
And what is this evil that triumphs when good men do nothing? What are we really talking about here and is it worth fighting for? Is it worth turning our heads and allowing evil to continue on while we do nothing? (and I count voting for a third party candidate when knowing that he has absolutely no chance of defeating the Democrat, and worse, actually planning and hoping to knock out the Republican candidate who otherwise might have defeated the Democrat, as doing nothing).
Corruption is accepting campaign cash from the Chinese in exchange for military hardware. Corruption is accepting campaign cash as bribes from Indonesian power brokers, from Buddhist Monks, from corrupt corporate moguls. Corruption is defined by the myriad criminal acts and practices of the Clintons and the Gores and their corrupt Democrat minions.
Corruption is the land grabs, the power grabs, the gun grabs, the bribery, the shady deals, the high crimes and treason. Corruption is the theft of campaign dollars through forced labor union deductions. Corruption is the systematic indoctrination of several generations of our youth with socialist dogma via government school systems. Corruption is the removal of God from public life and substituting in the evil homosexual/feminist agenda and the destruction of moral society. Corruption is lying to the public about global warming and the selling of the Kyoto treaty. Corruption is giving up our national sovereignty to the United Nations. Corruption is the abuses of office, obstruction of justice, lying, perjury and subornation of perjury.
The Democrat Party is thoroughly corrupt. There is no question about that, but it's way beyond corrupt. It's also evil.
Waco was evil. The killing of innocent men, women, children and babies is evil. Torturing them for weeks on end, gassing them, and then burning them alive is pure evil. This was perpetrated by a corrupt and evil Democrat Administration and covered-up by corrupt and evil Democrat Congressmen and Senators, many of whom you are saying should be allowed to remain in office even today.
And as bad as that is, it pales in comparison to the Democrat government sanctioned and funded wholesale slaughter of the most innocent life of all, the murder of innocent human life in the womb. This is evil. Pure evil. And this evilness is openly perpetrated by a thoroughly corrupt and evil Democrat Party. The same corrupt and evil Democrat Congress and Judiciary whom you are now saying deserve to remain in office.
IMHO, allowing these Democrats to remain in power is aiding and abetting the corruption and treason, and is acting as an accessory before and after the fact to the murderers of innocent human life. Is doing nothing and allowing this evil to triumph evil itself?
I love my country. I love the Constitution. I love life. I love God. I know that the Democrats hate my country, hate the Constitution, hate God and hate human life. I see that the only Party capable of blocking and defeating the evil Democrats is the Republican Party. I see that many races are so close that as little as a one percent siphon of conservative votes to a third party could be the difference between success and failure. I see allowing a Democrat to remain in power when it could have been prevented as a triumph of evil.
JIM ROBINSON
That's exactly why we're all here. Thank-you for giving us this forum. God Bless you, Free Republic and us all.
Your point is a good one, but I believe that the term "liberal" is too positive a label for leftwing Democrats. If someone who is not politically informed looks up the term "liberal" in the dictionary, they will find that its definition is something like "generous, open-minded," etc. -- clearly not descriptive of the beliefs or platform of the Democrat party.
The term we must use for them is "Socialist," since that is the clearest and most accurate description of their system of beliefs.
Nice, very nice. So would someone tell this to Liddy Dole, who is running nonstop commercials here in North Carolina boasting that she'll keep propping up Social Security, which is and always has been socialist, big-government largesse at its WORST! Not to mention her wishy-washy stand on the right to bear arms.
That ain't "conservative" or "Republican", Jim. REAL conservatism is having the guts to tell people they're shackled to government. Not pull the blinds over them like "big government liberals" do.
Jim, to insist that it's "conservative vs. liberal"/"Democrat vs. Republican" is not only myopic and shallow, it's dangerous, because those are just distractions from the real cancer eating away at America. There are those of us who believe in the sovereignty of the individual, that God entrusted America to her people. And then there are statists: the ones who demand that America is no greater than her government. There are no citizens under statists, only subjects.
The Democratic and Republican parties, both of them, are statist. And both parties love their power too much to effect anything that would cede more power to the individual. If President Bush had an overwhelming majority in both the House and Senate, nothing notable would change in America, and it's naive to believe that the Republicans would do anything different than the Democrats... 'cuz BOTH rely on as many people as possible on the government dole to stay in power.
By the way, I hope all of you in NC are writing and calling daily to remind Dole that we need a conservative in that seat. But whatever else we do, we need a Republican majority. We cannot afford to allow the Senate the power to block Bush's judiciary appointments, especially at the Supreme Court level.
There is absolutely zero excuse for anyone who claims to be conservative to not vote Republican this time around. There is way too much at stake to risk allowing the Democrats control of the House or Senate.
Vote out the RATs!
As I see it, this is should be conservatives' primary battleground. The culture needs to be changed fairly significantly before conservatives can hope to make real inroads at the federal level.
By the way, I have yet to read one post on FR that old poor folks with no assets should have to fend for themselves. Not one. Interesting.
Vote the RATs out. It's more important than ever.
It'll take a helluva lot more than mere "hard work". I (and no doubt you) know plenty of people who, whenever I bring up how the government has stolen their freedom through Social Security, they go wild-eyed apoplectic about how the government is going to fund their retirement. Bring up that there likely WON'T be any funding 'cuz it's running out: "well, they'd BETTER because I've been paying into it all these years."
There's no way in hell that the government is going to let Social Security lapse, 'cuz there'd be blood and riots in the streets if it did. They've no choice but to keep propping it up, with no hope of weaning Americans off it. Hard work? Yeah... but it'll also take just about every single Social Security recipient falling into the wretched earth to rot.
The Democrats have held power for way too many years of the last century. They've completely corrupted our educations systems and brainwashed the populace.
And if Bush (or any other Republican president) wants to cut out the heartmeat of this problem in one fell swoop, he(she?) will eliminate the Department of Education. LBJ started it... I see no reason why any president could not abolish it unilaterally. Once that's done, restoring local control to the schools will be far easier accomplished.
(And on this one, I'm 100% in agreement with you Jim. I'm teaching in a private school now... and it's light years removed from what goes on philosophically in the public systems.)
It's been a hundred years of Democrat rule and socialist indoctrination. It may take a hundred years to undo it.
It won't begin in the schools. It'll begin in the homes, in the families. Two things brought down the Soviet Union: Reagan's SDI (which bankrupted the Soviets when they tried to compete) and the young people who, despite every effort by the Soviet officials, in blatant violation of Leninist doctrine, grew up and came of age with, more often than not, a profound faith in God.
How'd that happen? The kids went to school and were told there's no God. They came back home and their grandparents told them there was God.
I'll agree with you again, then, with this caveat: in the culture war it's not Democrats that should be crushed, but political correctness. And if you or anyone else is serious about the Republicans providing capable service/leadership, you'd better hold their feet to the fire on this like nothing else.
By the way, I hope all of you in NC are writing and calling daily to remind Dole that we need a conservative in that seat. But whatever else we do, we need a Republican majority. We cannot afford to allow the Senate the power to block Bush's judiciary appointments, especially at the Supreme Court level.
If Bush's perogative is appointing strict Constitutionalists who believe in judicial restraint, I'll wish/pray him enough Senators to support him. But you gotta rely on Bush wanting that.
There is absolutely zero excuse for anyone who claims to be conservative to not vote Republican this time around. There is way too much at stake to risk allowing the Democrats control of the House or Senate.
Jim, people only take as much control as you're willing to give them. If government has become too overbearing in America (and it has), it's not the Democrats fault or the Republicans. It's ours. God never has and likely never will anoint a ruler over America. Instead, He did something that never happened before in the history of the world: He anointed all of us, as citizens, to govern ourselves. There's never been a time that we couldn't take back control of our own destiny... but we have to want that first, and not be mesmerized by the dog-and-pony show that both major parties are expecting us to buy into.
Number two, education is key.
"A fool and his money are soon parted."
I doubt much emphasis is placed on this simple truth any longer. Our children are taught to be dependent on government. They're taught to be socialist workers. Self-reliance, entrepranuership and individualism is discouraged. Future generations need to be taught to fend for themselves. And they will do fine if allowed to. Of course, this should be taught at home too, but it'll help if our education systems don't preach socialism and dependence.
Almost all GOP senators voted to remove convict Slick.
