Suggested letter or email to Congress:
Support Concurrent Receipt in Defense Bill
I'm writing to urge you to do all you can to ensure the final FY2003 Defense Authorization Act (HR4546) ends the unfair retired pay reduction imposed on disabled retirees of the uniformed services.
The House bill, passed in May, would phase out the reduction over 5 years for retirees with at least 20 years service and 60% or higher disability ratings. The Senate bill would end the offset immediately for all disabled retirees with at least 20 years' service.
90% of House members and 83% in the Senate have cosponsored the legislation included in the Senate's defense bill. Now it's up to Congress to follow up on that overwhelming support and put this provision in law.
In the unlikely event the President would actually veto the defense bill to deny this long-overdue relief for disabled retirees, I would expect that, with such overwhelming cosponsorship, you would vote to override any such veto.

The american government and the american people don't give a rat's ass about ex service people. After you have given your service to your country, they throw you away just like any other article of trash. I will write my congressman in your behalf, but don't think they are willing to help. I am represented by Wally Herger (R)in the house, and feinstein (D)and boxer (D)in the senate. Feinstein and boxer couldn't care less. Good luck.
