Far-leftist Robert Scheer sings nothing but praise for Ah-nie (while denouncing Gary South, Davis' handler, for conducting a "smear" campaign against Schwartzenegger).
John Gizzi of Human Events makes it clear that, contrary to what's been said on this thread, Schwartzenegger is pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-"gay rights," pro-illegal immigrants and vigorously and unequivocally supported Clinton during impeachment. In view of all this, there is no way he could be a fiscal conservative. Social programs cost money. Lots of money.
Like I said, he is liberal to his ashes and brought his exploratory effort to a screaching stop when he learned that California Republicans hated him and would not support his candidacy.
Nice try, Ah-nie.
He is riding his favorite hobby-horse, Proposition 49, a half-billion-dollar teachers' union giveaway. We are 23 billion dollars in the hole and this is what "fiscally conservative" Ah-nie supports.
This includes Rob Reiner, another Prop 49 proponent. Republicans oppose it. But then, Republicans oppose nearly everything that Reiner and Schwartzenegger support.
What state party? Back in July '96, I tried to volunteer for the Dole campaign. I called Republican Clubs in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, and the L.A. County Republican Central Committee. Although I called during business hours, I only got answering machines, and no one returned my calls.
I finally found a human being who answered the phone at the Orange Country Republican Central Committee. He had no idea where to send me, or who was in charge of Dole's California campaign. He could only give me Dole's 800 number in Washington.
I called that 800 number, left a message offering to volunteer, and never heard back. I did get a bunch of junk mail, so I guess I was put on their fundraising mailing list.
The Libertarian Party is better organized in CA than the GOP, and certainly better in L.A. Sometimes the GOP doesn't even bother to run candidates in L.A.'s westside.
I assume so. Constitutionally, a citizen is a citizen. The office of U.S. President has different standards, but only because the Constitution specifically requires it.
No, I think that he realizes that his days as an action star is waning. Arnold's in his 50's, as is Sly Stallone. Vin Disel and others represent te next crop of young action heros.
Arnold is looking for his next career.
Of course, after getting elected mayor of Carmel, Clint Eastwood also sent out Senatorial feelers, and decided against it.
