With all due respect, you both need a wake-up call...

Far-leftist Robert Scheer sings nothing but praise for Ah-nie (while denouncing Gary South, Davis' handler, for conducting a "smear" campaign against Schwartzenegger).

John Gizzi of Human Events makes it clear that, contrary to what's been said on this thread, Schwartzenegger is pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-"gay rights," pro-illegal immigrants and vigorously and unequivocally supported Clinton during impeachment. In view of all this, there is no way he could be a fiscal conservative. Social programs cost money. Lots of money.

Like I said, he is liberal to his ashes and brought his exploratory effort to a screaching stop when he learned that California Republicans hated him and would not support his candidacy.

Nice try, Ah-nie.

Here is what Ah-nie is currently doing to establish his "fiscal conservative" credentials...

He is riding his favorite hobby-horse, Proposition 49, a half-billion-dollar teachers' union giveaway. We are 23 billion dollars in the hole and this is what "fiscally conservative" Ah-nie supports.

Not just *stories*. I've seen the pix of him in the tabloids , as well as there's film of him. He's not electable with those kinds of things. Also, his marriage has been very shaky for years, but Kennedy women do not believe in divorcing someone.

Oh, yes, according to the latest Field Poll, 72% of California democrats favor Ah-nie's beloved Prop 49.

This includes Rob Reiner, another Prop 49 proponent. Republicans oppose it. But then, Republicans oppose nearly everything that Reiner and Schwartzenegger support.

I don't agree, I think he'd pull conservatives away from Simon.
Most conservatives think Arny is also a strong conservative and it is all about perception - As you know!

For your result to work, those voting would need to be informed.
Gook luck on that one kiddo! Some can barely count to 52 in order to get their lottery tickets in this state. LOL

So sad, so true!

Simon has NOT received the support of the state party at all.

What state party? Back in July '96, I tried to volunteer for the Dole campaign. I called Republican Clubs in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, and the L.A. County Republican Central Committee. Although I called during business hours, I only got answering machines, and no one returned my calls.

I finally found a human being who answered the phone at the Orange Country Republican Central Committee. He had no idea where to send me, or who was in charge of Dole's California campaign. He could only give me Dole's 800 number in Washington.

I called that 800 number, left a message offering to volunteer, and never heard back. I did get a bunch of junk mail, so I guess I was put on their fundraising mailing list.

The Libertarian Party is better organized in CA than the GOP, and certainly better in L.A. Sometimes the GOP doesn't even bother to run candidates in L.A.'s westside.

Can a naturalized US citizen become governor of California?

I assume so. Constitutionally, a citizen is a citizen. The office of U.S. President has different standards, but only because the Constitution specifically requires it.

If I vote for any actor for governor of California it would be James Woods, not Arnold. James kicks liberal @$$ every chance he gets on TV.

My guess is that he's only trying to drum up publicity for himself to rescue his sagging movie career.

No, I think that he realizes that his days as an action star is waning. Arnold's in his 50's, as is Sly Stallone. Vin Disel and others represent te next crop of young action heros.

Arnold is looking for his next career.

Of course, after getting elected mayor of Carmel, Clint Eastwood also sent out Senatorial feelers, and decided against it.

I think you're absolutely right, CB.

Hey, check this out. The Official Terminator 3 Website (will be released next summer). Be sure to move your cursor over anything that blinks or pulses.

Yes. I think it's only the President that has the strict born-on-US-soil requirement, unless some other states stipulate the same. But Arnold has checked out CA law.
