If Schroeder wins, Germany is going to have serious problems asking anything from anyone - I've never seen a nation commit such political suicide as with their behaviour on the Iraq war and the Hitler remarks.

The notion that everything will be forgotten come Monday is optimistic. Mr Bush is known for having a good memory for insults. Got that right and I won't forget it either

Germany has finally won back its low standing. I doubt if much of anything can save it, in the world of diplomacy , now.
President Bush is NOT going to forget the impugnation, which he has lately suffered, at the hands of these people. Either they're with us, or they're against us. They're not " with " us.

I wish someone would explain what that woman was thinking when she made those remarks. Did she think that the US and W would just forget and let it slide?
To: Unknown Freeper
She didn't " think " and I doubt that she cares what President Bush thinks about it. Some people just don't understand that words , once said, can't be taken back. Words not only have meanings, they can do a great deal of harm .
If the media has managed to do one thing, it's been to convince some people, that the president is an idiot. The true idiot, is the person who discounts him.

Having lived almost 4 years in Germany in the late 50's, early 60's, I can aver that German arrogance knows no bounds. Even at that time, they acted as if they won WWII
and we were in country to serve them. I never met a German whose equal I was. They considered me either beneath them or above them.
Please, don't anyone look for help from that quarter until they see something in it for themselves.

Socialists don't "think". They "feel".
And, as a socialist, she doesn't give a fig what the US and W think.

And they think HIS memory is good, wait til they get a load of OURS!!! Their apology wasn't all that good either. I have to admit I'm surprised the Germans self-destructed so badly.

I hope we pull out our military bases from Germany. They dont need our money nor our boys in blue's paycheck to help their economy with attitudes like theirs currently. I'd prefer to bring them back home but if thats not an option I'm sure other European countries like Italy, Turkey, Poland, etc would love to have our cash infusion.

From what I have confirmed in my research, the opponent is as virulent an America hater as Schroeder and his band.
To: rb22982
Yes, we need to get our troops out of Germany. Call your senators and representative and let them know you want action...

The hunds that parade as German leaders have gone over the edge now. They fully deserve to sink into the economic oblivion that is their just due.
Looks like all the socialist/liberal leaders of Europe are headed for the dust bin of history. Will Tony be smart enough to avoid the same fate?

Some of your research may point to that, but Stoiber has to be careful about saying things that won't get him killed in the election on Sunday. Stoiber is millions better than Schroeder and will be a good ally of the US. Stoiber comes from Bavaria, the most conservative state in Germany. If he wins you will see a big difference in how Germany views and treats the US.
To: UofORepublican
Stoiber said that if we go to war against Iraq without UN approval he will demand that we remove ourselves from ALL bases on Germany. This is a million times better than Schroeder?
To: rb22982
Our military bases are in Germany for good reason......preventing Germany from doing what they do best......starting wars.

May I take this opportunity to advertise British wares? ;)
