You are either racist or totally ignorant of history. Just about every military age interned Japanese volunteered for military service and fought in Europe where they were one of the military's most decorated unit during the war. Hawaii's Senator Inouye (although he's a rascally Democrat) fought in that unit and left his arm in Europe.

The reason the Japanese were interned was partially paranoia and partially greed. California politicians confiscated the homes and possessions of those interned. To "offset" this debt the US government paid each internee $10,000 back in the 70's.

So I guess now we can count on Eunice Stone coming out soon and saying she made the whole thing up. Everything I was told was true the first day or so, is now found to be false. The dogs did not hit, these guys did not blow a tollbooth, they had valid plates, they were cooperative just asserting their Constitutional Rights, etc. The media dropped the ball big time on this.

This stinks to high heaven. When they find out she filed a false report, I hope they lock her up for a long time. No wonder she ran to the hospital to hide after media whoring for Fox for an entire afternoon. She wasted the valuable time of Fla. police and caused three young men 18 hours of hell being locked up in a Van for doing nothing wrong. She's lucky that they are gracious enough not to sue her even though her nonsense caused them to lose out on their medical education in Miami.

His mother was two when she came to America and she was interned along with his father (who was 19 when he came). You've got that wrong. All along the men have said the first car stopped to pay, and then the second car stopped to pay for both - and demanded a receipt.

I pointed out in earlier thread the second car stopped to pay for the second only after a waiting squad car was spotted pulling out after the first and it was clear there was going to be trouble.

The three men later confirmed in public interviews that this was the case.

I thought they were lying about paying the first toll.
Now it is proven they did not lie about the toll.

Im dissappointed in a way because if they had been caught in a lie with videotape of the toll, no one would have any more questions that they were lying about their comments in the Shoney's.

I have no doubt Eunice heard what she heard. She had ample opportunity to "puff up" their statements, but instead reported the ambiguous statements.

And, I think the dogs made a legitimate "hit".

I have been very angry over the blantanly racist comments on Free Republic over the matter. I thought we (As a group) were above that. Scares me how little misinformation is needed to stoke up the fires of hatred here. Going back and looking at those threads make my stomach turn.

I really fear that Eunice did this not out of concern for national security but racial bias. It harms our country's ability to deal with the real terrorists -- the old story of crying wolf.

Well, on the basis of one woman customer who said she overheard a conversation at a Shoney's, they closed down a major highway, brought out police, dogs and a bomb squad, and detained three people for 17 hours. How much more suspicious can we get?

What do you think they might have been doing there?
