Well, if there's one thing that the stupid raghead Saudis and I can agree on, it is that the New York Times is a worthless waste of pulp(though we reach that conclusion coming from very different perspectives.)

Arab news is a fascinating publication all right, I've never seen such an immense compendium of anti-semitism, neo-nazis, Holocaust deniers and other dregs of the world published in one spot.

Generally speaking, it is better for reporters to write about countries in which they live or have some substantive experience.

And also to do that independently, far and away from the crowd of expat reporters hanging-out at the Correspondent's Club.

Not at all defending the Saudis or this particular article, I've personally seen the most bizarre imaginable reporting coming from countries where I've been sitting realtime, and where the reality is far far different than anything reported by the American and international press.

You shake your head and wonder whether you're in the same country.

Despite the fact that so many of the 9/11 attackers were Saudis, and despite the general intractability and arrogance of the pestilent Saudi royals, he is right that Safire may need a little "Saudi time" to increase his credibility.

Thank you - I've now considered it.

My opinion remains "...a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous and cruel...".

He then claims that Industry Minister “Hakim Yamani” (sic) .....real Industry Minister Dr. Hashim Yamani

These guys can't agree how to translate their chicken scratch writing into english. How's Safire going to do it?

Safire is the only decent writer in the entire NYTimes. No wonder they bashed him.

This sounds like the proverbial excuse from the kid caught with his hand IN the cookie jar!!!

Saudi Arabia is very cognizant of their citizens having access to computers. They have to counter the TRUTH.

Well, it would appear that both are extremely ignorant. Safire was dead wrong and hasn't bothered to check out who is who in the royal family and the New York Times has been pro-arab throughout this whole ordeal.

You can no longer base your opinions on anything that is either said or written, you have to judge by actions.

Gee, we have the same problem here when the media writes about firearms, something else they know nothing about.
