UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- Iraq is free of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, the country's foreign minister told the United Nations in a speech Thursday that included excerpts of a letter from Saddam Hussein.
``Our country is ready to receive any scientific experts, accompanied by politicians you choose to represent any one of your countries, to tell us which places and scientific installations they would wish to see,'' Naji Sabri said, quoting the Iraqi president.
``I herby declare before you that Iraq is clear of all nuclear, chemical and biological weapons,'' Sabir said, further quoting Saddam.
The speech heavily criticized the United States and President Bush for trying to link Iraq in some way to the tragedy of Sept. 11.
The Iraqi president charged that ``the American propaganda machine, along with official statements of lies, distortion and falsehood'' was being used for ``inciting the American public against Iraq, and pushing them to accept the U.S. administration's schemes of aggression as a fait accompli.''

In the truth is stranger than fiction catagory -- Berkeley, San Francisco, and Cambridge in declaring itself a "nuclear-free zone" do want to do away with nuclear and coal powere plant, going instead to pind power generation. However the PETA folk are worried that birds will be harmed by the propellers of the windmills!!! Amazing USA!!

For those of you who don't know Arabic, Naji Sabir translates as Joe Isuzu. Don't malign ol' Joe!
Even he has enough sense to know that this is a "bad deal!"

Iraq is free of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, the country's foreign minister told the United Nations in a speech Thursday that included excerpts of a letter from Saddam Hussein."Immediately after this statement, lightning came from a cloudless sky and incinerated the foreign minister on the spot, and a deep, booming, voice was heard to say, 'Look, buddy, I didn't create the Universe last night!'"

Maybe they are thinking if a nuclear weapon is in three pieces on a table it's not a weapon.

What a MISquote!!!! I heard the speech, and Foreign Minister Naji Sabri of Iraq said "Iraq IS NOW free of Nuclear and Biological Weapons". I even said outloud "NOW?"
Did they give them to someone else? OR, are they simply lying. But either way, it was a slip of tongue. Then to see it reported out of context is even worst. Sheesh!!
