In reviewing intelligence alerts pre 9-11 the goal should be fixing weak spots not affixing blame. Did this type of recrimination, angry finger pointing go on after Pearl Harbor?

The lead investigator for the joint House and Senate inquiry said in the committee's first public hearing Wednesday that Congress was warned that Osama bin Laden was planning a large-scale attack against U.S. or Israeli interests two months before Sept. 11, 2001.

What did Congress know and when didi they know it? From Daschle, et al's comments immediately post 9/11 one wouldn't begin to think that they actually had any foreknowledge about Usama Bin Laden.

Quite frankly, I think this is old news.

Yes, sure Congress and our intelligence agencies may have had some non-specific threats (which I'm sure they always do), but unless they knew that clearly that terrorists had plans to hijack planes and run them into well-known targets, on or around September 11, I'm not sure we can say that was enough to do something about it.
