[history]
Oakland -- A rookie cop who blew the whistle on his former training officer the day after quitting the Oakland Police Department testified today that he had been taught to lie in police reports.
Testifying in the corruption trial of three fired officers who called themselves "the Riders," former Officer Keith Batt told a jury in Alameda County Superior Court that he had been warned about the officers just after he graduated from the police academy.

Any LEO supporters want to come out in defense of these guys?
I'm sort of curious, what's the excuse? Is it really that this star witness is simply lying about everything to enhance his law suit? Did he make it all up?

A lot of strange things happen in Oakland, always have. For chrissakes, Jerry Brown is the friggin' mayor, right?
You think this is SOP for LEO's, dude? That's the way you come off.
To: Lloyd227
Probably not.Birds of a feather flock together, this is no doubt.I am not,let me restate that again,I am not against LEO's.I am against crooked, lying, better than though jack booted thugs that think just because they have a badge they can do,lye, say or act in any manner they choose cuz they got a badge and they can get as many LEO's they need to back them up on a story.I am sick and tired of this $hit.

Why are you acting so naive and why did posters even bother to answer you about LEO's,you know, quit baiting people.
To: Texas_Jarhead
But then again, you are a master at baiting, get my drift.

"You think this is SOP for LEO's"Well, not quite Standard Procedure. These guys went to far and too often, then they got ratted on.
Standard Operating Procedure would have been to "keep it under control" and make sure your new recruits are loyal.
The way I intend to come off is that it IS standard procedure to cover for assholes like these and that these incidents happen far too often.
I do believe that there are serious issues with the attitude of Law Enforcement Officers in this country and at all levels. While there are of course, some good ethical and brave cops on the beat, there are far too many of the other type and the good cops are remaining too quiet about it.
