The Dawn of the Bob Greene Moment
When you get to a certain age, whether you like it or not you are going to start having Bob Greene Moments. Bob Greene is a 50-ish Chicago Tribune columnist for whom life appears to have peaked at a 1964 Jan and Dean concert in his native Columbus, Ohio.
Greene's frequent ink-stained trips to the past tell us that though we've gained much as time has marched forward, we have lost much as well. We have lost, as Greene emphasizes, our inability to escape the technology that aids us.
Our inability to be shocked by the kinds of scandals that gripped our nation years ago.
The inability of the remaining living Beach Boys to appear on the same stage.
And, contemplative, wistful looks at summertime, leavened with graphic descriptions of child-abuse cases.

Prediction: Within 24 hours, black Chicago media will draw comparisons between Greene's and R Kelly's scandals with young women.

When Bing Crosby married Cathy Crosby, wasn't she about the same age as Bing's kids?
Religions think they own ethics -- especially sexual ethics.
While you check your premises, think about the religious ethic leading to airplanes diving into the World Trade center.

Hence, the idea of the Bob Greene Moment. It's when, without realizing it, you see something new and realize a sense of some element of the past lost by its introduction. You're not rejecting the future, just feeling a slight hurt at part of your past dying. The new thing could be a new car, a breast implant, anything, as long as it motivates you to think wistfully about the past.

His resignation was probably brought about by an overzealous and politically motivated publisher. His private life has no effect on his ability to write columns. The editorial board should simply have censured him and moved on. He does have to get back to work for the people of Chicago.

If he is looking for work:
JournalismJobs.com: "Adult Video News, the trade
'Bible' of the adult video industry, is seeking
top-notch, work-at-home writers to be freelance
reviewers. Prior reviewing experience and knowledge of
adult videos preferred. . . . We are looking for
first-rate writers who can write with flair, style and
humor and who can turn in extremely clean copy that
will need little, if any editing." Oh, yes, reviewers
also get to vote in the annual AVN Awards -- the
"Academy Awards of Adult Videos."

Without more details, it's impossible to pass judgement here. But it seems so hypocritical to talk about journalistic ethics in light of the outright lying, distorting news and censoring of news that goes on daily in the mainstream media. The stunts the LATimes has pulled in California, and the New York Times, pales the Greene story to nothing (unless the girl was mentally challanged or very naive or was raped or something).

Hey, why give up the dream? LOL.
I'm in my 30's but if some pretty young thing looks my way, and she is 18 and a few seconds old, I'm not turning it down.
I dont know if too many here would agree, because their wives are watching, and dont want to admit that from 18-19 on, its all downhill for women anyway.
Therefore, it's up to us single guys to tell the truth?

From all I've been able to discern about the "details" in this case, I actually think you're right! (although I don't know anything about Mr. Greene...)

I intend to remain a BOY until I hit 90 or so. Maturity is a wonderful thing to avoid, if you can manage it. The only mature thing I want in life is my liquor.
As for women, I suppose one can be made to feel younger, and/or look younger for that matter under the right form of motivation, but young girls also have that one trait that guys cant resist; their relative stupidity.
We dont like young women for their conversation skills, dear.
Freegards? Sure!

from 18-19 on, its all downhill for women anyway It's even more steeply downhill for guys from 19 or so. Women, OTOH, start their downhill journey somewhat latter. All things being equal of course, which they rarely are.

...the paper, which then sought his resignation.
A paper which practices that which it doesn't preach or they would have suggested Clinton should have resigned.
