SCOTT RITTER SAYS THAT "WAGING PEACE" IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN TRUTH:
[TIME MAGAZINE] You've spoke about having seen the children's prisons in Iraq. Can you describe what you saw there? [Ritter] The prison in question is at the General Security Services headquarters, which was inspected by my team in Jan. 1998. It appeared to be a prison for children toddlers up to pre-adolescents whose only crime was to be the offspring of those who have spoken out politically against the regime of Saddam Hussein. It was a horrific scene. Actually I'm not going to describe what I saw there because what I saw was so horrible that it can be used by those who would want to promote war with Iraq, and right now I'm waging peace.

This is a man so driven by monetary gain and probably ideology that he can overlook the horrors inflicted on children. To paraphrase Instapundit, Ritter is like those individuals who rationalized away the slaughter of the innocent by Pol Pot, Stalin' Castro and most of the demogogues of the last century in order not to confuse the search for "peace"

There a bad moon out tonight ========
After the Baghdad Scott "Baghdad Jane" Ritter remote-viewing lecture,
a tour of the Terrorists' training facilities
12 miles outside of Baghdad, Iraq, after the Scott Ritter remote-viewing lecture,
paid consultant (rumors are $450,000) Scott Ritter explains that the Iraqis shown below
are not terrorists practicing murder, but wholesome farmers or perhaps poets.

My son is a junior at Oneonta State. He told me that Scott Ritter visited his school last year. Scott Ritter told that body of students that the US was using his inspection team to find out about Saddam's locations. His houses, places visited etc. Mr. Ritter suggested that US intelligence was intentionally targeting Saddam. If Mr. Ritter has been promoting this idea on college campuses you would think it would be revealed in TIME's piece.
In the article "Exclusive: Scott Ritter in His Own Words" Mr Ritter neglects to make this point even though he had the opportunity with the questions asked about Saddam's "legitimate complaints about the prior inspection regime" and "Did you get any spying done on your trip?"
It would appear to me that what Scott Ritter has been saying publically for the last couple of years is quite different than TIME magazines depiction.
Scott Ritter is being less than honest or worse TIME magazine is being less than honest.
TIME is providing a disservice to the American public profession with such weak material. When politicians and the American public are demanding a solid argument against war with Iraq Mr. Ritter's motives must be suspect.
