A. the first car DID blow through the toll booth without paying. The second car paid for both, but the first car was already being followed.

B. The media reports ALWAYS referred to the plates as POSSIBLY stolen. The public records indicated the plates belonged to a different model automobile.
The plate transfer did not occur properly and it took time to verify the story of the men pulled over.

Because the authorities later said they were cooperative. Doesn't that mean anything?

You gotta source? I hadn't heard.

I am not arguing that this was not a valid stop. I am saying that the subsequent information refutes the allegations on this thread, at least in part. If a person wants to talk about the tollboth as a good reason to stop these men, I'm all for it. If, however, a person still wants to use the tollbooth as an indicatot of their guilt, that person is being disengenuous.

Earlier in the day, they traced the plates to an hispanic man in Illinois. His name was Mr. Munoz or something like that. He and his house were shown on TV. A reporter asked him how the plates ended up on the white car and I heard him say, "Maybe they were stolen." He was very vague.

He voluntarily spoke with the police and he apparantly told them that he owned the car with his brother, his brother drove that car, and that his brother "was off on Fridays" and he couldn't be found. Mr. Munoz (sp?) was not a suspect.

At the end of the day, it was just a DMV transferring snafu? Since plates go with the owner when they transfer them to a subsequent car, I still can't understand how they ended up on the white car which obviously didn't belong to the brother.

I heard that too, and wondered the same thing.

I'm not going to take it upon myself to determine what is and what is not a joke. If I ever heard something like that, I would report it the way James Woods and the way Eunice did.

Often times individuals of the newcomer variety buy a car simply by handing over cash and driving off with the car. They don't bother transferring the title.

As I said before if they were yanking her chain, the jokes on them and they got what they learned.

That's not my quote. Please be careful where you point that thing.

It is stated in the Quran that it is permissible to lie to an infidel and get no retribution from Allah.

It is not just a cultural thing, but a prerequisite of the religion.

To lie to a Non-Islamic is justified.

"I'm having a hard time believing that conversation really happened"

Okay, let's just say for the sake of argument that the men are telling the truth and let's say that it was me in Mrs. Stone's position (since I would have done the same thing). I'm sitting here having a nice lunch with my daughter and these three mideastern men are sitting in the booth next to us. I don't like their looks (understandable) and I look at them distastefully (likely). They say nothing to me and go on innocently with their meal or coffee or whatever.

However, at this point I just can't enjoy my meal any more because these guys are there and I resent them. Being from a small, southern town (true) where nothing much ever happens (also true) I decide I need a little excitement in my life. Since I know everybody is on high alert it would be easy to stir up some trouble about these guys so when they get up to leave, I follow them. Even though they never said a word, it is likely that they're up to no good, and who knows, I might even get to be on TV. While they're not looking I quickly get a description of the men and the one tag number that I could see. After all, it might be important not to have some different mideastern men stopped because they might be more innocent.

The men leave and I immediately call 911. Since the men have said nothing to indicate that they are a threat, I have to make up something quick. Let's see, there are a lot of those people around Miami and it looked like they turned south on the highway, so they must be heading to Miami. Now what could I say to make it sound big? I know, I'll say that they were joking about 9/11 and having a party to celebrate it. But let's see, that probably isn't enough to get them in trouble so I'd better claim that they were making threatening plans too. Now what would sound good? I know. They were going to blow something up.....nah, that sounds too obvious. How about that they were gonna bring something down. Yeah, that should work. Of course, for full effect, I would have to keep them guessing so I don't want to offer too many details.

Early the next morning I discover that the men have been appehended. Well, then obviously they did something wrong just as I suspected, and what do you know, they want me to tell my story on tv. Now what do I say? I want to look like a hero, but of course these men could say that I'm making all this up and make me look foolish on national tv so I'd better say that they could have been just joking. I mean, it's worth being totally humiliated to make a name for myself even if I have nothing to gain. And of course I could be making myself an actual target of some Muslim extremist or even be making myself hated in my own town.

Come on, does that even sound remotely reasonable? It sure doesn't to me. Personally, I would have done exactly what she did if, and only if, I had heard the kinds of things she said that she heard. What I wouldn't have done is go on national television with it. I would have issued a statement and done a disappearing act until I saw what the outcome might be. So while I question her judgement about the TV appearance, I think she did exactly the right thing regarding everyting else. I believe her. I do NOT believe the men.

Normally, the fact that no violations were found would be construed as consistent with innocence.

What does that have anything to do with how a hoax might be premeditated or planned or orchestrated or implemented or executed or perpetrated or carried out....................?

" the bomb sniffing dogs alerted because that's what the authorities wanted them to do. When denied permission to search the car, they had to have an excuse, so they call the dogs."

I don't doubt that that happens sometimes, but explain why they then went on to blow up a backpack.

If your scenario was true, Eunice would have to be one great liar. Not only did she get the place they were going correct, Miami, but where they had come from correct, Chicago. They admitted they were on their way to Miami.

She would have had to invent this story quickly as she called right away. The only person that I have met that was really good at interleaving the truth with falsehoods was a paranoid schizophrenic.

Eunice did not display any mental problems whatsoever.

Not paying the toll was indicative of someone that had no respect for the laws here. I believe Eunice over "Moslem Caribbean Med students" that were traipsing all over the country rather than attending classes.

That's not the only possible analysis of the restaurant enconter.

Possible scenarios include.

1. The women overheard conversation, but misinterpreted what they were saying. (both parties innocent).

2. The men did make these comments because the women noticed them. (Men guilty - women innocent.) 3. Your scenario (women guilty - men innocent).

4. Men knew they were saying these things to upset women, but she knew they were yanking her chain and decided to call the police to teach them a lesson. (both parties guilty).

Right now, the women says she overheard the men. They say she is lying and the reportedly the son told hi mother the men were yanking her chain. Observations about who looks truthful are not helpful because our personal biases have more to to with our opinion than the facts.

Until some hard evidence appears to support one claim over the other, the most we can conclude is we don't know.

"has anybody mentioned the report on CNN tonight about these men stopping at the first rest stop, talking to the press, then leaving, only to turn around and go WEST with "a man they had met at the rest area who told them he would take them somewhere they could rest before they finished their trip?"

This is the first I've heard of that.

Nothing. It was in response to all on this thread who want to hang these three despite the evidence or lack thereof.

Off the subject of this post; so I'm making this private. There IS such a thing as Palestinians. They have lived on that land for many generations. The only lie that continues is the one told by people like you who ignore the fact that these people weren't transferred there just to be a pain to Israel.

Oi...

Example:
If you are born in the United States then you are by default....American.

If you were born in the United States and of an Arab race then you can say "I am an Arab American".

Palestinian is not an ethnic group. Nor is it a Nation...or ever has been...it is merely a name for an area...therefor anyone born in Jordan is Jordanian or they can claim to be identified by whatever race they are.

But nobody born in Jordan can claim to be Palestianian.

That is like saying that because my Parents are both from Indiana I am somehow a Hoosier...even though I was born in another country.
