NAPLES, Florida (CNN) --The Georgia woman who prompted Friday's terror scare was "flat-out lying" when she told authorities she overheard three Muslim men at a restaurant laughing about September 11 and making suspicious comments, one of the men said late Friday.

{Waves gloob blaster at humans} "Vile Terry! How dare you impugn the selfless, peace loving Groaci! We demand reparations at once!"
Hmmmm, I resemble that remark...

Uhmm, Eunice was a customer eating at Shoney's.
Jesse is good, but not good enough to fire the customers ...
You didn't read the whole article did you?
"At the time of their release, authorities called the incident a prank by the men, but officials were backing off that theory a few hours later."
And then "some man" shows up and takes them away to an undisclosed location.....
Do you have a cite for your assertion that they men were arrogant? In this article one said that he refused the request to search his car, as is his right as a citizen. Nothing wrong with that.
Do you have a cite or reference that they did NOT give out "any" information or what information would have been required so they would have been released in the first hour?
It seems they were cleared and released and the authorities seem to be backing away from the joke/hoax aspect of her story:
"In the end, authorities said there was no threat, the cars were cleared, Interstate 75 reopened and the men were released. The three men climbed in their vehicles around 6 p.m. and drove away, 17 hours after they were pulled over.
"At the time of their release, authorities called the incident a prank by the men, but officials were backing off that theory a few hours later.
"I think it's premature at this point in time to call it a prank or a hoax," said Carlos Alvarez, the director of the Miami-Dade Police Department."
No offense intended, but so far, several FReepers have written that these guys said they were playing a joke, but I've been unable to locate even a single quote attributed to them where they said that. The only person who is quoted as saying that they were playing a joke is the woman. We haven't even heard from her son, only what she says her son said at the time.
I would have spilled my guts by giving them every telephone number and contact that I had had to prove that I was telling the truth. Their story STINKS to high heaven, IMO. Now they're claiming (as are their family members that we are all racists) Yes, that's exactly what one of the guy's sister told CNN. So in that logic I suppose they are all terrorist. See, they want it both ways.
Their stories must have satisfied someone because they were released to go on their way. Naturally, you're entitled to your opinion as are the men and their family.
I don't know the Stone woman on a personal level so I have no way to assess whether she is telling the truth or what are her opinions toward muslims regardless of what she says to the media.
I was only looking for a reference to the them saying that they were joking. So far, I still haven't found it.

I'm with Eunice

Say, you wouldn't mind stepping into that boxcar, while we search your car, would ya?
I thought not.
I'll take racist nosy old bitties for $100, Alex....
I know in the climate of fear and anger produced by the magic box in your living room, it's hard to think these days... but try this one:
Any time someone accuses you of a crime, and the police can find no evidence, you are supposed to pay for your own detention and the manpower used in investigating you? Even if totally innocent??
Do I have your view point correct, komrade?
