Elections board rejects Reno request for statewide recount

MIAMI -- The Florida elections board rejected Janet Reno's request Friday for a statewide, manual recount in Florida's bungled gubernatorial primary, as South Florida officials continued finding uncounted votes, perhaps enough to erase Bill McBride's lead.

Secretary of State Jim Smith said there would be no recounts, but any uncounted votes found could be submitted by counties with their updated totals next week.

Janet will be the 'nominee'. The Dems are proficient at cheating, they won't have any trouble 'finding' 5, 10, or 15 thousand votes.

They have a 'cheating' handicap of 7% versues the Republicans. You have to beat them 10% minimum to stand a chance of winning.

I would have said you try to be, but that you care more about your personal style than any message.

So, what happens if the final tally shows a margin of victory of less than a half percent, for either candidate? Is an automatic recount then triggered, or is it too late?

I find most of this flip comments unbelievable - the situation of another election place screw-up in Florida is not funny but truly sickening - Reno this time - the Congressional races next time - Florida will be lucky to get it right by the time of the presidential races in 2004.

You can really paint the entire State Government of Florida with one large paint brush of being dumb southerners -

You can bet that if a voting machine could be infested with boll weevils these a$$holes would be the first ones to spray them with DDT.

The highest tech thing in Florida that works is a wet sponge instead of licking stamps -

These people couldn't find the cheeks of their a$$ with both hands, on a dark night if all the FR types held the flashlights -

Then the Alligator Alley Trooper Buuba let's blow the Sh*t out of a knap sack full of anatomy books incident today -

I understand the guy who pushed the plunger to destroy the knapsack was Jeb Bush's personal bodyguard. He's also going to do the same with "them damn hitek votin' machines that are the work of the Devil - rather kiss a rattlesnake that vote on the, thar thangs" some unidentified aligator hunter reported of the Commander of the Florida State Troopers, who today pushed the plunger which detonated three anatomy, one biology and one "Screwing Older Patients on Behalf of your Care Giver" manual -

I have questions ... why would the state have any say in how the Dem's (or any party) choose their candidate? Why are the taxpayers paying for what used to be done at a convention?

IMO the parties should pay the state to lease the equipment and property. Then these kinda shenanigans would be meaningless (OK, more meaningless).

"The highest tech thing in Florida that works is a wet sponge instead of licking stamps -"

Ya'll just keep on thinkin that. Its a big help when negotiating for education customers electronic whiteboards, data projecters and system integration contracts.Us hicks get so confused between the serial and USB connections.

Now if the Yankees ever get tired of shipping their elders down here, I guess we would have to find another market to replace the the computer user clubs located at all the retirement villages.

OTOH, the NY Yankees (regular folks, not the baseball team) seem to congregate in a few select southern counties.Care to guess which ones that would be?

Funny isnt it, that this state has a Republican Govenor, the majority party in both the State Senate and House is Republican, but the Democrat controlled counties in the south of the state cant even conduct a simple election with any class or whisper of competance.

Central Florida pundits have generously offered to send Pam Iorio on down to the troubled counties. I believe she is also a Democrat, but I have not heard a whisper of scandal or any question of her ability.(She is well respected, unlike certain other election supervisors from other counties)

Steve Spurrier is probably very happy, in more ways than
one, for leaving mathematically-challenged Florida.
