Simon's a very good guy - I have been impressed with him - not his political skills but with him as a person.

I agree. Simon isn't a politician, but I don't want another politician. We had politicians with both Gray Davis and liberal Republican Pete Wilson. Look where Gray Davis has gotten us !?!?!

Simon is more like George W. He is from a political family, but wasn't overtly political himself, just running the family business, working in the private sector, and then something happens in their life and they believe they could do more good as Governor. George W. was great for Texas, and he is a wonderful president for the most part. Simon will be great for California, and it will no longer be business as usual.

I think the most important thing about Simon to remember is that he is a moral and ethical man. We might not agree with him 100% of the time on every issue, but I believe that he is thoughtful and reasoned and does consider the moral and ethical implications of his decisions. He is not a "ME FIRST" person, as shown through his charities.

Go Simon!

I very much like your analogy and couldn't agree with you more. Simon's father was a GIANT.

“Anniversary Thoughts”

Last week, I was proud and honored to say I have been married to Bill Simon Jr. for 16 years. We were married on a rainy day in Oak Park Illinois, in a huge church, surrounded by family and friends from all walks of life. We had our reception in a wedding hall in nearby Oak Brook. Bill's only involvement in the planning process was making a request for "potatoes au gratin" at dinner.

We had a video man recording people's thoughts... my 85-year-old grandmother talked for 15 minutes until having to be literally dragged away, and my mother wouldn't stop badgering the bandleader until he let her perform the song "Hello Dolly" (her name). It was the best day of my life.

I am blessed to call Bill my husband. He is a smart, kind, driven, generous and thoughtful man. He has a huge heart that has no bounds. He is a dad who loves to build sandcastles and surf with his kids. His idea of a great night out is to call up the neighbors and invite them over for cheeseburgers on the grill. He has never tried to butt in and take over my job as "caller" for the Bingo games. He has encouraged me to seek my dreams no matter what they may be... and he pushes me when I feel I'm not sure I can do it.

This is the man I know, yet rarely read about. This man will work night and day for all of you who have shown your confidence and faith in him. To all of you out there in the campaign trenches who stay up late into the night and then turn around and get in early in the morning - Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And to Bill - Loads of Love and here is to another 116 years!!!!
