[history]
Senior European officials reacted positively to President George W. Bush's call Thursday for Iraq to comply with U.N. resolutions or face the consequences, while the Iraqi ambassador denounced it as "series of fabrications."
"He chooses to deceive the world and his own people by the longest series of fabrications that have ever been told by a leader of a nation," Ambassador Mohamed al-Douri said.

A leader is often defined not by articulating new facts or points of view. Most often a leader is the one, usually the first to state what others have realized but are too timid to admit in front of others.

Thanks for the good news!
Ivan, this ping is for you.

President Reagan had this gift and ability, and it appears that this President Bush has that ability and gift!

Don't ya just love it ?
Lets see what happens over the weekend. Bet there's a new line from Iraq by Monday.
So, short your bets on oil, gasoline ,etc...crude's headed for $24.

I surfed past MSNBC...I am so sick of listening to Pat Buchanan undermine the President regarding war with Iraq. How can anybody still support this guy????
To: Wait4Truth
The Bravo Sierra that Pat has come with the past week, makes you wonder if the same people who paid Jihad Cindy to win elections haven't funded Pat.
I haven't listened to Pat since the convention of 1992.
Also, I don't MSNBC,ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN,CNBC,CSPAN for my news. If I watch, I watch Fox News. Lately, even with Fox, I prefer to come to Free Republic to get the news. That way I get the news and instant interpretation of what's happening by Freepers.
Thanks for the ping!

Hmmmm, Jack Straw finally said something intelligent. If Bush has won him over, then anything is possible.

Has anyone noticed that the Romanians have been very openly backing the US on issue after issue, even to the displeasure of the EU, which Romania badly wants to join?
They were the first to back us in Kosovo and Bosnia too, if I remembe well. They have been offering to provide pipeline security for the Caspian pipelines.
They seem to be fishing for some kind of military role that would put them in a partnership with the US.
I wonder if any of this leads anywhere. Anyone been to Romania lately?

His main support appears to come from Palm Beach voters who meant to vote for Gore.

Maybe someone from the Orange County Register News department should talk to the Register's editor. Today's
OC Register editorial reads as Neville "Peace in our times" Chamberlian would write it.

I have noticed Romania's pro-US stance. In some cases, they seem more pro-American than many Democrats. Seriously. My guess is they have some astute political scientists working policy, and gambled that Bush would win the world over. Not a bad bet, but pretty damned gutsy for a country in Romania's position.
Denmark, Italy, Norway, and Portugal are also ahead of the curve. Maybe we can disband NATO and put together an organization of true allies......

Maybe we can disband NATO and put together an organization of true allies......Now yer talkin' . . . I say, unilaterally withdraw from NATO and negotiate mutual defense treaties with those countries who are bright enough to figure out how nice it is to have a U.S. guarantee of security. I'd bet they'd all come back, without a word about Iraq.

Recently, one British visitor was chatting to CIA Director George Tenet about the Europeans role. "Ill tell you exactly what the President said the other day on that very subject," said Mr Tenet. "He said, 'I dont give a shit what the Europeans think.'"

Wow....Your observation is what FR is all about...Other than US Tort reform, that is the most attractive, underanalyzed concept I've heard in a long while...I'm so sick of Kofi Anonymouse.

Does anyone have little use for Hamid Karzai? I think this man talks out both sides of his mouth. He's just a greedy, inept leader from yet another darn country who needs America's help.

Does anyone have little use for Hamid Karzai His family is pretty well off, and lives in the US. He actually doesn't need this headache. Especially when you consider his chances of living through it are not good.
He could be sunning himself in California with the rest of the fam.
