[history]
Burger King Corp. said Thursday it would launch a new 99-cent menu, in a move designed to fan the flames of a hamburger price war among the nation's biggest fast-food chains.
Miami-based Burger King, the nation's No. 2 hamburger chain after McDonald's Corp. (MCD), said it was rolling out a new 99-cent "BK Value Menu" comprising 11 menu items priced at 99 cents each. The new menu is a permanent part of the chain's offerings and not a promotion, the company said in a statement.

Beef prices? Hmmm, the last few times I've tried fast food, I could have sworn there WASN'T any beef in them.
Seriously though, I MIGHT frequent our few fast food outlets here if they would hire people who speak English, and stop serving food that tastes like it was cooked yesterday.

$2 for a sandwich that used to be $0.19 is definitely affecting the appeal of these restaurants.

If you had ever worked in one of those fast food places I guarantee you would never eat in one. ROFLMAO

I tried Hardees's $6 burger for $3.95. Should have
$.95, It was completely tasteless except for the catsup.

This is excellent news as I am on a tough budget. Usually when I go to Burger King for lunch, I have two double cheeseburgers, two large fries and a large vanilla shake. That usually sets me back $7.98 or thereabouts. Now that the menu prices are being lowered, I can score an extra large fries, an apple pie and still pay about the same! Burger King is saving me money and I don't have to "skimp" at lunchtime anymore. Hallelujah!

Which is more likely to be served, a dropped $.99 burger or a dropped lobster?
Seriously, dirt is good for your immune system. Eat whereever you like.

Makes no difference. I will continue to go to in-an-out burger.

The launch of the 99-cent menu by Burger King -- which was sold by U.K. liquor company Diageo to a buyout firm led by Texas Pacific Group in late July --
the hamburger price war will also likely raise the competition on Taco Bell and KFC, operated by Yum Brands,Who the he!! are "Diageo", "Texas Pacific Group" and "Yum Brands"????
This is the type of worthless financial juggling of businesses that does absolutey nothing for the consumer.
Burger King, Taco Bell and KFC are all big enough that they oughta stand alone and compete independently in the marketplace, focusing on the business of delivering a product to consumers.

McD's is coming out with the Lonestar Special using Texas beef, this after they pissed ranchers off with talk of using more imported beef.
To: razorback-bert
I think that was a proposal by Texas cattle ranchers. I don't think McD's has signed on.
As proud as I am of Texas, I doubt I could tell the difference between a burger made from an Oklahoma cow, or one in the Lone Star State.
And I'm sure that's true if it was served at McDonald's!

My morning radio talk show gave me the idea it was a done deal.
Maybe it's going to be a tough skinny free range longhorn.
