Yet another unbiased report which lists Sununu's many weaknesses (fundraising, organization and a troubling voting record) and Smith's strengths (fundraising, organization, appeal to independents, and a 100% conservative voting record) which may score him an upset victory in today's supercharged state primary. This analysis also concludes that whoever wins the primary today will be statistically tied with Shaheen, a conclusion which is backed up by all recent polling data. So much for the myth of Senator Smith's unelectability. That was always Sununu's more RINO partisans main argument for electing Sununu. It was completely and totally bogus and false from day one and they knew it, but still they are ashamed to admit that they were wrong. The fact is that Smith motivates his core conservative supporters to get out the vote, while Sununu who has voted increasingly liberal during the past year, does not. That is why the primary election is absolutely in play today even if arrogant Sununu partisans here on FR refuse to admit it.

I love Senator Smith

Are you on Smith's payroll or something?
Give it a rest. You don't get to vote, now or on Nov. 5. Some of us prefer Sununu, some of us prefer Smith.
Whomever wins, let's support the winner against the Democrat Shaheen.

I just voted for Senator Smith.
We will have to work harder against Shaheen if he wins today, no doubt about it. But John Sununu has already shown disturbing signs of "growing in office", which can only worsen if he is a Senator.

In just a few hours we'll know whether your rants are correct or not..... Regardless of who wins, I hope they can win the seat in the General..... Now will you support Sununu if he wins or are you a one horse supporter?
VOTE REPUBLICAN NOV. 5, 2002
Take back the Senate
Retain the House

I am afraid, however, that if Smith loses, too many of his backers will sit on their hands in a sulk or go to the polls and write in Smith and hand the Senate seat to our "Bill Clinton In Drag", Jean Shaheen.
To: sinkspur
Any time a mushy pile of crap like Sununu runs in a GOP primary against a solid man like Smith, it is in the nation's best interest for the voters to support the man over the mush. Period.
It's a self-fulfilling prophecy that certain establishment Republicans and their FReeper butt buddies wish to continue ad nauseum -- Putting up a mushy RINO and then whining because principled voters couldn't bring themselves to pull the lever for the lesser of two evils. Losing elections by forcing principled people to stay home appears to be the future of the GOP. How unfortunate.

LOL, I've ALWAYS said that I could support either one in the General. Question is, are Smith supporters going to support Sununu if he wins? Sununu supporters have nothing against Smith, except his ability to discern who his real friends are, something which is also indicative of his supporters on Freep.....

Spoken like a true pile of Kentucky horse turds!
Most of the violently anti-Sununu folks here seem to have never been to New Hampshire, let alone are residents of it. Sounds like the DU is active here.

Nope. I am a diehard conservative Republican activist who is committed to getting out the truth about America's most conservative Senator, Bob Smith and getting him re-elected. This election is way too important for the future of the conservative cause and the future of America to ignore. Conservatives have already lost or are losing some of our greatest champions in Congress, Reps. Bill Barr, Bob Dornan, Bill Dannemayer and Sens. Jesse Helms, Lauch Faircloth and John Ashcroft just to name a few. We cannot afford to lose the Senate's top conservative, Bob Smith! No single race is more important to conservatives than Smith's with the exception of the Presidency itself.

Sununu's "mushy" because he didn't leave the Republican party, but Smith is "solid" because he did stomp out of the GOP like a crybaby.
Perverse thinking.

I voiced a similar concern last week. It may simply be their desperation coming through. I don't know. But I got the impression Sununu's backers would begrudgingly support Smith, but that it wouldn't necessarily go the other way. Let's hope we're wrong if Smith does pull the upset today.

Stick it in your ear, jackass.
You allege that putting Sununu up as the candidate could result in a loss for the GOP on the one hand while claiming he's a better candidate than Smith on the other. Logic is not your strong point it appears. If you're so worried about the seat staying in GOP hands, support Smith!

GO SMITTY !!!

And it really sticks in your craw that the voters still support Smith, doesn't it? Newsflash: Lotsa people mistrust the present-day GOP and their establishment backers. Kinda makes me proud of the independent thinkers just north of me.
