You just have to wonder, is this the incident that will push India over the brink to Nuke Pakistan?

It probably would if we didn't have people there.

Besides that, I seem to rember reading that we'd signed some kind of agreement not long ago requiring us to come to Muscharraf's aid if Pakistan were attached. I could be wrong about that, but I'm thinking it was part of the deal for him to let us in there.

I think you're right. Very interesting situation. I suppose our agreement with Pakistan could change if we determined that Muscharraf was not in control. Pakistani supported terrorism might be all the evidence needed to change that agreement.

But we need both Pakistan and India working with us, so I don't think we'd dump either unless there was absolutly no other choice.

Judging from all the typos, I must have been half-asleep when I typed the previous :)

Actually, I don't know if I was right or not. I came across this while I was looking for something else in my notes.

What I find interesting is that the agreement specifies technological assistance, but does not contain a mutual defense agreement. China is still hedging its bets.

And oh, it wasn't me who turned your name in to the spelling police. Honest. If they come knocking on your door and ask to look at your hard drive for more spelling errors, honest, it must have been someone else.
